The CASC Minor looks forward to engaging students with skills, strategies, tools, and actions that promote social change in diverse community settings and so CASC invites you to SAPAC's Consent, Outreach, and Relationship Education Program (CORE) event, featuring CASC Alumni Alex!, Our Love is Beyond Your Imagination on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 6:30-8PM in the Anderson Room of the Michigan Union. This event will explore the topics of intersection of queer, trans, and PoC identity and healthy relationships.

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW). This means you are able to apply to the school as both as junior and senior. Additionally, students will mark a "CASC Preferred Admissions" box on their application that will be taken into account in the decision making process. For admission criteria and more information visit the preferred admissions

London Course on Community Action
The focus of this course is on multicultural issues and community action in contemporary London. It's a good experience for students to learn how issues of race, ethnicity, gender and other identities relate to social justice in a different society than the USA. This course will take place May-June of 2018. Learn more.

7th Annual Shirley Verrett Award Ceremony
The University of Michigan Women of Color in the Academy Project (WOCAP) will present its 7th Annual Shirley Verrett Award to Dr. Naomi André in recognition of her scholarship and musicological inquiry into the representation of race, voice, and gender, her deep commitment to diversity as an educational mission, and her contributions to teaching and mentoring women of color scholars in the arts.

Halfway Hijabi: Hijabi Monologues
This free event was created in an effort to reclaim the voices of those who wear hijabs as well as offering space to others who do not understand those experiences, to have an opportunity to learn more about what wearing the hijab means. The event will be a series of hijabi speakers who share their experiences through poetry, speech, and music.

A More Human Dwelling Place: Reimagining the Racialized Architecture of America
This symposium will examine five archetypal spaces in America: homes and neighborhoods, schools, courthouses, prisons, and borders. It will consider the ways in which these spaces have become increasingly racialized, diagnose how the racialization impedes their basic functioning, and reimagine these spaces at their best. The Sexual Assualt Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC)
Survivor Empowerment and Ally Support (SEAS) Volunteer Program is now accepting submissions for the 13th annual art show, rEVOLUTON: Making Art for Change. The themes of this show are gender, sexism, sexual violence, empowerment, and healing. Deadline is March 12. Learn more.

Depression on College Campus Conference 2018
This conference will discuss new research findings, innovative design initiatives, model programs, and policies which demonstrate how redesigning the physical and social environments on a campus can reduce suicide risk and promote mental health.

Peace Corps Prep is a certificate program open to undergraduate students with sophomore status or higher, and aims to prepare students for the Peace Corps or other international service programs.

University of Michigan Social Justice Fellowship Opportunity
U-M students (undergraduate & graduate) are invited to become Social Justice Fellowship Opportunity to join an educational team and facilitate the Summer Youth Dialogues on Race and Ethnicity in Metropolitan Detroit Program (SYD). SYD increases dialogue among high school age youth in metro Detroit.
CASC minor program students can count their course credit toward their Diversity requirement in the minor. CASC students who have questions about fulfilling their Diversity requirement should contact Amber Williams at @ [email protected]

Faculty Research Assistant Position: 10-20 Hours Per Week
The RA would conduct preparatory data collection, by conducting internet searches about migrant-run organizations and compiling information in an Excel file.
The RA would also conduct literature reviews, using EBSCO, Web of Science and other research databases, and then compile information in an Excel or Word document.

The
Fulbright UK Summer Institutes
are three-to-four week programs for US undergraduate students. Participants can explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK while experiencing higher education at a UK university. Application deadline is February 7, 2018. Learn more and apply.
Engelhardt Social Justice Fellowship
The Engelhardt Social Justice Fellowship (ESJF) is a paid internship that allows students and community organizations to continue, or begin, their work together for 8 weeks in May through June. In addition to receiving a $2000 stipend, fellows participate in weekly professional development workshops and have access to CEAL-Ride for transportation support. Application deadline is February 12, 2018.

Funding Opportunities
Davis Project for Peace Initiative 2018
Projects for Peace are summer-long projects designed and implemented by undergraduate students passionate about peace in their communities and around the globe. These projects, as defined by students, creatively address local or worldwide peace efforts providing sustainable solutions to contemporary society. Selected projects proposal will be funded up to $10,000 and implemented during summer of 2018. Learn more and apply.
Community Engagement Local Impact Grants
The Ginsberg Center is looking to engage with student orgs who wish to forward their mission and learning through projects and partnerships that advance in the areas of Education, Employment, and/or Housing within Washtenaw County. Application deadline is Wednesday, January 31, 2018.
