Will Virginia Expand Medicaid?

The Virginia Senate is currently scheduled to consider a budget adopted by the House of Delegates that includes expanding Medicaid eligibility to Virginians at or below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) ($16,642 for one, $33,948 for a family of 4). Medicaid expansion would help many of your patients and nearly 400,000 eligible adult Virginians by providing health insurance that covers hospitalizations, doctor visits and all of their needed medicines.

For helpful information about it, read more here. If you'd like to encourage your Senator to vote for Medicaid Expansion, but don't know who your legislators are, find out on this interactive map by typing in your address. Additional information can be found in " A Chartbook for Understanding Virginia's Medicaid Insurance and the Opportunity to Improve it" published by The Commonwealth Institute and the Virginia Poverty Law Center.
