ASWB and Continuing Competence
ASWB's Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program approves providers of social work continuing education. ASWB approves social work continuing education courses for the state of New Jersey.
Courses offered by ACE providers are not accepted in New Jersey unless those courses have also been approved through the New Jersey CE Course Approval Program. 
These approvals are currently separate processes. In early 2019, ACE will begin offering individual course approval for New Jersey and other jurisdictions. Stay tuned!

Program changes ahead!
Changes to the New Jersey Course Approval Program are coming in early 2019. Because ACE will begin offering individual course approval, the New Jersey Course Approval Program will be merged with the new individual course approval process. All courses that have not reached the end of their current approval period when individual course approval begins will be transitioned to ACE, where they will be approved and managed as individual courses. Look for more details about the upcoming changes in the winter edition of this newsletter. 
Pilot test policy change   
Effective immediately, pilot tests for recorded asynchronous distance learning activities are no longer required. Pilot tests are still required for reading-based online or home study continuing education activities or for any distance learning courses where a provider wishes to provide credit to the participants for the time it took to complete the posttest. For more details on pilot test requirements, see Standard 4.9 in the ACE Handbook.
