International Social Service-USA Gears Up for a Cross-Border Family Mediation Conference on June 5, 2018





We are excited to announce that registration is now open for our day-long conference, Cross-Border Family Mediation: Dispute Resolution for International Families In Your Community, on June 5, 2018 in Washington, D.C co-hosted by International Social Service-USA  (ISS-USA), MK Family Law , The George Washington University School of Law , and Leslie Leslie Ellen Shear, Attorney and Counselor at Law . This event will bring together leading experts to discuss mediation as a key process to help cross-border families with their complex situations. Scheduled one day prior to the annual AFCC Conference  in D.C., conference attendees will have a wealth of resources and excellent networking opportunities at their finger-tips.

A full agenda will be available shortly, and will include discussions about the complex nature of international family disputes, how to identify families where mediation would be helpful, what global resources exist for engaging families in mediation processes, and how to ensure mediation is an available resource for international families in the United States.

ISS-USA Welcomes Two New Winter Interns: Shai Fenwick and Taylor Ruddo

















ISS-USA is excited to welcome two new interns to the team this month, Shai Fenwick (pictured right) and Taylor Ruddo (pictured left). See more information about them below: 

Ms. Fenwick is a senior Human Services major at Stevenson University. She has joined ISS-USA because of her interests in child welfare and administrative programs for children. Ms. Fenwick's classes at Stevenson have strengthened her drive to work with families and especially with children. During her time at ISS-USA, she hopes to take in pertinent information and experience for handling intercountry cases. 

Ms. Ruddo is also a senior Human Services major at Stevenson University interested in pursuing a career in family intervention and advocacy, especially with families in populations that face large and complex challenges. During her time at ISS-USA, she hopes to learn how effective casework is managed so she can apply her knowledge to her future career.

Mark your calendars for our brewery fundraiser on March 1, 2018!

Love beer and giving back? Join us for our upcoming fundraiser at Monument City Brewing Company in Baltimore on March 1 from 5-8pm. No need to purchase a ticket, just join our staff and supporters for a pint (or two!) and $1 per pint will be donated to assist vulnerable children and separated families across borders.

We will be welcoming "Celebrity Bartender" Jamie Courtney! Also, Taco Bar Food Truck will be on site during the event, serving up some delicious tacos (and more).
