Mill Trail Plan
The Mill Trail Plan seeks to identify opportunities for pedestrians and cyclists to explore historic and scenic attractions along the West Branch of the Brandywine Creek in Coatesville, South Coatesville, Modena and Valley Township. A number of National Historic Landmark properties are located within the City of Coatesville along South First Avenue, Route 82 and Lincoln Highway including Graystone Mansion, the Coatesville High Bridge, Terracina, and the Lukens Headquarters at the National Iron and Steele Heritage Museum.  The corridor also offers stunning views of the Brandywine Creek and contemporary steel recycling facilities at ArcelorMittal. The creation of an inter-municipal and inter-connected trail network through this historic neighborhood will be an asset to each of the partnering municipalities and to the central Chester County region as a whole. It will eventually link into the planned Chester Valley Trail and The Circuit regional trail network. The Mill Trail Plan will be completed this fall, and updates will be posted on the Greenway website.
Featured This Month - Preserving our Heritage
Hundreds of historic structures and districts are found along the Brandywine because people who first came here wanted to settle along the creek. The Greenway provides a common thread where users can learn about the natural and cultural heritage of the Brandywine Creek. Historic sites are being preserved using conservation easements. The preservation and interpretation of these sites provides a common bond that reminds us where we started as a nation and where we are heading in the future.
