Friend to Friend                                        April 2018
CELEBRATING A SPECTACULAR 30TH ANNIVERSARY GALA-AUCTION & CASINO NIGHT

It was a sellout crowd on April 21st when Our Friends Place marked its 30th anniversary at the annual Auction and Casino Night Gala. Your overwhelming generosity supports the young women we serve. We appreciate everyone's time and talent who helped make this event extra special in honor of our 30th anniversary.

We are grateful for the many guests, donors, friends, volunteers, board members and staff that helped to make the event fun and successful! We especially want to shout out to the terrific Gala Co-Chairs Suzanne Jaco, Angela Maverick, and Leslie Simmons as well as the Honorary Co-Chairs Netta Blanchard and Jefflyn Williamson.

There are also behind the scenes volunteers who play key roles working tirelessly for months - Allison Doepfner, Barb Kolle, and Kathlena Smith Ruiz among many others. Thank you for going above and beyond and truly offering much support to OFP's annual event.

Finally, thank you to the 580 FRIENDS and ALUMNI who attended and helped us to raise over $370,000 for Our Friends Place. These funds allow the organization to continue helping young women grow from adversity towards economic self-sufficiency. Plus, funds raised enable SOAR to Success to bring lifelong program skills to even more young ladies through high school, community college, and local resource programs.

LOOK WHAT'S COMING

The Sendero Consulting Community Rocks program assigns team members to turn a specific consulting project for a non-profit organization from a dream to reality. That's what their dream team did - redesigning OFP's website which needed a refresh after three years.

We look forward to flipping the switch and launching the new ourfriendsplace.org in the coming days! The new website will have more success stories and program information plus better links to photo and video galleries. Be sure to check the website out plus view the 2018 video shared at the Gala event! Please give us your feedback on our new look.

Many thanks to our new FRIENDS at Sendero! We are really grateful to have been the beneficiary of your generosity. Your Community Rocks program really does rock!

About Our Friends Place

Our Friends Place helps young women, between the ages of 18 and 24, break the generational cycles of abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness through empowering self-reliance and independence. OFP provides a supportive home and teaches the skills young women need to become self-reliant adults. OFP young women enroll in an educational or vocational program, hold a job and pay a portion of their earnings as rent and savings. The nonresidential SOAR to Success outreach curriculum teaches young women weekly life skills through high school, community college and local resource programs.
