The groundbreaking Soccer in Schools program initiated by Pickering Soccer Club is now up and running with our Schools Coordinator, Maddie Iozzi meeting and presenting to high schools and elementary schools across the City of Pickering.

Maddie, a player with the Club at Recreational, Competitive and League One levels and former Canadian National player, completed her teaching degree at Syracuse University where she played 4 years of Division 1 soccer. She has recently completed a Masters Degree from The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in Adapted Education and will look to share her teaching experience and passion for soccer with the next generation of players, coaches and match officials.

Director of Soccer Development, Ramin Mohammadi said "The support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation in making this project a reality is very exciting for the community and something we are very grateful for. When it comes to soccer we need young and energetic individuals who are committed to support our programs, and our school program will provide this opportunity to high school students who would like to take advantage of this, and get involved in coaching, match officiating, etc.

With an exciting 2019 ahead of her, Maddie feels privileged to be given the opportunity to mentor student coaches in schools and coordinate their coaching and referee experience. She is excited about developing young student leaders in soccer.
