IvyNotes: January 13 th
  Director's Note

Hope this finds you home and cozy on such a wintery evening.

A few calendar reminders: t his Friday is our PTA meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the library (scroll down for details and to RSVP).  Also, we will be closed on Monday, January 21st for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

We're excited to share that our latest Ivymount product, IvySCIP, is now commercially available for teacher's nationwide.

We're proud of the team of Ivymount School educators who created IvySCIP  (Ivymount Social Cognition Instructional Package in response to a need for innovative social learning solutions.

IvySCIP compiles years of Ivymount's brainstorming, development, assessment, and research on the topic of social and emotional learning (SEL) to address students' needs in the areas of self-awareness,  self-advocacy, social interaction, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and self-care.

This comprehensive on-line tool is now available to all educators, to  help teachers assess, plan for and set goals  to support the social and emotional learning needs of elementary students diagnosed with social cognition challenges.

We know how effective IvySCIP has been for our program - it's a real difference maker - and are excited to share our wealth of special education expertise with the field more broadly.

Finally, we reposted our inclement weather policy at the end of IvyNotes.

Stay safe and warm,

Susan Holt

Ivymount School
follows the
inclement weather policy
of Montgomery County
Public Schools

When MCPS closes school due to inclement weather, Ivymount School is closed.

When MCPS has a late opening, Ivymount School has a late opening.

If MCPS has an early closing due to inclement weather, Ivymount will also close early and we will notify parents/guardians to make sure that someone is available at home to meet the student.

If MCPS has a late opening on a Wednesday, Ivymount School will have a full day program and dismiss students at 3:15 p.m.

Please note that some school jurisdictions have their own policy for providing transportation on inclement weather days (e.g., Prince George's County Public Schools will not transport students if there is a delayed opening on Wednesdays). Ivymount and/or the school system will notify parents/guardians when alternate transportation arrangements occur.

We will post announcements about school closings, delayed openings, or early dismissals due to winter weather emergencies through a Constant Contact email (like this one). If you have registered for our Ivymount text emergency alerts, you will also receive a text.
