Downtown Indiana Goes Into the Streets

On Saturday, April 21 IUP students joined Downtown Indiana to clean up IRMC Park.

Organized by the IUP Office of Service Learning, Into the Streets, is an annual day of service. It is part of a national project that encourages university members to participate in the local community’s outreach services. The program provides students with an introductory service experience while also supporting an ongoing involvement in community service affairs.

Students from Cooks Honors College and Kappa Sigma fraternity spent the morning weeding, picking up litter, sweeping sidewalks and making IRMC Park welcoming for lunch breaks, events and those taking a stroll downtown.

As part of the Adopt-A-Block program, Evergreen Garden Club wil also volunteer their time and efforts to keep IRMC Park clean and inviting.

Special thanks to DI member Kay Smith who volunteered along with the students!
