Frequently Answered Questions: Gravel road maintenance
Frequently Answered Questions is a new feature of LUT News which addresses questions that are frequently asked of staff.
Q: I live on gravel road and it's a mess! It is in dire need of grading and gravel. How soon will you get to it?
A: Washington County has more than 200 miles of gravel roads and three graders to maintain them. Requests for gravel road maintenance are prioritized by need. For example, through roads are the first priority; dead-end roads are a lower priority.
"In the wake of the recent heavy rains, we're receiving a lot of questions and requests for gravel road maintenance," said Todd Watkins, Operations and Maintenance Division Manager. "The wet conditions are creating ideal conditions for processing and applying gravel. Drivers should exercise caution when driving on fresh gravel. We appreciate everyone's patience."
