A lovely reception was held for Library Director Ann Grealish-Rust and Adult Services Librarian Prudence Fallon to celebrate their retirement. Awesome entertainment was provided by the Irish dance troop Tir Na Nog and refreshments and a cake followed. Good Luck Ann & Prue in all you do! For more great pictures and details, please click here

NEXT MEETING OF THE FRIENDS OF TIVERTON LIBRARIES WILL BE WEDNESDAY, MAY 16TH AT 7PM IN THE TRUSTEES ROOM.  WE ARE PLANNING FOR OUR ANNUAL BOOK SALE COMING UP IN JUNE.  INTERESTED IN GETTING INVOLVED THIS YEAR?  WE'D LOVE TO HAVE YOUR HELP.  SEE YOU MAY16TH.

Free Comic Book Day -- Saturday, May 5 -- All Ages
Saturday, May 5th is Free Comic Book Day!
Celebrate the importance of graphic reading materials at the library on Free Comic Book Day! We'll have a wide selection of free comic books for patrons to browse and take home. You can also create your own! We'll have supplies to get you started.
Comics available for all age groups. Supplies limited and available on a first-come first serve basis.

May Day Celebration -- Saturday, May 19 -- All Ages
The Tiverton Library in partnership with Tiverton Days and Tiverton Arts Council present a fun family day to celebrate the Spring season modeled after the English celebration May Day. Families are invited to join us at the library as we listen to medieval music, dance around a May Pole, don flower crowns upon our heads, and more! Crafts and good times will be available for all. The event will be held Saturday, May 19th on the library lawn (rain location: Library Community Room) between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Event is drop-in; no registration required, and open to the public.

Blood Drive for the Rhode Island Blood Center -- Monday, May 21-- Adults
The Rhode Island Blood Center will be in the Library's Community Room from 4-7 PM accepting donations for their blood bank. Did you know that  someone needs blood every 2 seconds? You can sign up for an appointment online using the following link. TEEN EVENTS
Teen Advisory Board
Tuesday, May 1, 6-7 PM in the Teen Room
Come hang out and discuss titles that you are reading, what you would like to see happen at the library, and eat some snacks!  Earn a community service hour for attending!  Participation is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12.

Star Wars Movie Marathon (Celebrate May the Fourth and Return of the Fifth)
Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 in the Community Room
May the Fourth be with you!  Join us to celebrate Star Wars Day by watching a movie.  We will be showing the three original Star Wars movies over the course of the weekend.  Candy and Popcorn provided.  Star Wars crafts and coloring will also be available during each movie showing. Attendance is open to patrons of all ages!

Cubee Craft: Star Wars Edition

during our movie showings this month in the Community Room. Come hang out and make an action figure while you watch a movie or take a template home with you to complete at a later time.An assortment of characters from the Star Wars Universe will be made available. 
 
Free Comic Book Day
Saturday, May 5, All Day
Stop by the Library on Saturday, May 5th any time between 10am and 4pm and help us celebrate Free Comic Book Day!  Free Comic Book Day happens every year and it's a way for people to celebrate comic books by getting a free one!  Stop by the Library to pick up yours!  Books will be on display and there will be books available for all age groups.

Anime & Manga Group
Friday, May 18, 3:30-4:30 PM in the Teen Room
Monthly Anime & Manga meet up is still meeting!  Join other interested teens in lively discussion, anime viewing, craft making, and snack eating!  Participation is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12.

Make & Take Craft
Monday, May 21, 2-7 PM in the Teen Room
Join us after school for an Arts & Crafts Lab in the Teen Room.  Supplies and instructions will be set out for the completion of a self-guided activity.  Come and be creative!  Or take the instructions home with you for later!

Babies up to 18 months join Little Library Bunny and Miss Meg for nursery rhymes, songs, finger plays and stories. Stories and activities have been chosen for non-walking tykes.
The TECH Corner
eWaste Recycling
Saturday, May 26, 2018,  10:00 AM-1:00 PM
Tiverton Public Library will be sponsoring a free electronics recycling event on May 26, 2018 from 10am-1pm at 34 Roosevelt Avenue in Tiverton. Participants may drop off all manner of electronic items.
Indie Cycle, LLC will be accepting electronic items including computers, laptops, monitors, televisions, routers, PDAs, cell phones, mice, keyboards, ink-jet printers, toner cartridges, CD/DVD players, radios, cameras, network equipment, wires, stereos, speakers, telephones, microwaves, small household appliances, and acid lead batteries such as auto/marine and back-ups. Anything with a wire!
A $10 disposal fee will be charged for laser-jet printers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, and other coolant-containing devices.
No light bulbs, single use batteries, plastic tapes/disks, glass plates or bowls, broken TV tubes or hazardous materials.

Basic Computer Skills I
Wednesday, May 2, 2018,  2-3:30 PM 
Are you new to computers, or do you need a refresher? Come to Basic Computer Skills and learn how to start and shut down a computer; create, save, and open a file; create a folder; and rename files and folders. This class is designed to help beginners feel more comfortable using the computer.
Prerequisite: must know how to use a computer mouse and keyboard. If you need help with this, then please contact Sam to set up a one-on-one appointment.
