YVPN  & United Way of Santa Cruz County are hiring a dynamic leader to be the next
Community Impact Coordinator for the Santa Cruz County Youth  Violence N etwork. Here are some of the qualities candidates should bring to this position:
  • experience with community organizing; staffing coalitions and/or community groups
  • demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity and results
  • experience working with diverse community partners; ability to build and manage relationships with a variety of people
  • comfortable with public speaking
  • ability to work independently, multi-task, stay organized & meet deadlines
  • working knowledge of the criminal justice system, youth violence prevention strategies & collective impact
  • experience working within a dynamic and changing environment
  • ability to analyze and interpret data 
  • ability to create & manage systems of communications
  • bilingual in Spanish/English (preferred)
  • grant writing experience (desired)

MLK YOUTH DAY 2020

The Resource Center for Nonviolence, Project ReGeneration and the NAACP Santa Cruz Branch invite you to MLK Youth Day 2020, a fun-filled family and youth-friendly day combining food, activities, music, art, expression, and education with an emphasis on empowering youth to get actively involved in our community. This event will take place on Saturday, January 18th, 12-4 pm @ The Resource Center for Nonviolence.

SAVE THE DATE! 

In collaboration with the Thriving Immigrants Collaborative (TIC), Community Action Board (CAB) will host an immigration convergence for cross-sector leaders & advocates on:
Friday, February 21st,  8:30 am - 4 pm  @ Cabrillo College
 
This event will leverage the wisdom, expertise & open minds of local leaders to envision actionable next steps our county can take to create a community where immigrants are supported to thrive. Through networking, training from subject experts & focused dialogue CAB & TIC will elevate the local conversation around immigration and empower leaders from all sectors to make changes that support the well-being of immigrants.

 California Youth Connection (CYC) was founded in 1988 by a group of foster youth and supportive adults to provide a vehicle for California foster youth to learn leadership and advocacy skills and to engage directly with policymakers to improve the foster care system.

Brightways Learnings is hosting 2 professional development workshops for anyone who works with children and youth. They are also encouraging teens/young adults to participate. The workshops include:

2020 LATINO ROLE  MODELS  CONFERENCE
Saturday, February 1, 2020,  9:00 am - 1:30 pm
Cabrillo College Crocker Theater, Aptos
 
The Latino Role Model Conference provides an exciting opportunity for students & their families to hear from Latino engineers, writers, scientists, artists, elected leaders, and other professionals.This year, award winning author Reyna Grande will be the keynote speaker.

This event is  FREE for students in grade 6 through college, and their families. Lunch will be provided for all attendees. The event will be in Spanish with English translation.
