MESSAGE FROM MRS. HYLAND
Dear Berkeley Hills families,
As we enter the beautiful, long winter season, I would like you to consider it pure joy! James 1:2 tells us, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.” While there can be trials in the winter months,
Berkeley Hills is celebrating a Joyful January!
Each week, we will focus on joy and perform random acts of kindness.
Today, January 14, will kick off a campus-wide encouragement week
. Students will find the joy in others by leaving
positive notes of encouragement
for their classmates and teachers.
Watch your child’s classroom newsletter for more details.
Please join us in Joyful January through your prayers!
Mrs. Hyland
Berkeley Hills Principal

Berkeley Hills Welcomes the Solomons to Chapel
|
|
Throughout the month of January, Berkeley Hills
students will experience a sequence of chapels leading up to Black History Month
.
Last week, Mrs. Laird’s class kicked off the series by presenting what slavery means and what God says about it in His Word. Honoring the important role of music in African culture – both in the past and today – we
welcomed the Solomons
(Mr. Solomon is the grandfather and Ms. Solomon is the mother of an Eden student) to
demonstrate, teach, and play the steel drums!
Mr. Solomon has been featured on the Mr. Rogers show talking about how he makes his steel drums.
In less than 30 minutes, the Solomons had Eden students playing beautiful music.

STEAM BINS
“See what YOU can create!”
Ask your elementary student what they are doing when they finish their seat work.
Teachers are encouraging them to grab a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Bin
and use their skill and imagination to complete an activity.
Each of the bins was built by a teacher and is filled with supplies and a picture or activity that integrates STEAM initiatives.
Enjoy these photos of 3D nativity scenes and mini-cup creations by Berkeley Hills students.
Expanded STEAM initiatives are the focus of Eden’s 35th Anniversary Campaign. For more information, contact Summer Dean at
sdean@edenca.org
