Pure Hockey Acquires Bauer
"Own The Moment" Retail Stores
 
The new stores will operate as "Bauer Hockey Experience" locations.  With the acquisition, Pure Hockey will now operate 53 retail locations across  the United States, as well as three e-commerce sites focused on hockey and goalie equipment.

The Boston Bruins took a trip back in time for their practice between Games 1 and 2 of their second-round playoff series with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Bruins suited up in full gear for their bus ride to the practice rink - similar to how a high school team might bus to a game.

Florida Panthers IceDen Hosts
Eighth Annual Hockeyfest

The Florida Panthers IceDen, a member of the Hockey Dealers Association, hosts its eighth annual Hockeyfest on May 5 in Coral Springs, Florida. The four-hour event features exclusive demo opportunities and numerous fun non-hockey activities. The event is free to the public with a two-hour public skating event for a $10.50 admission and $4 skate rental.

Lost Skate Blade Leads
to Rule Question

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask lost his skate blade in the midst of a Tampa Bay Lightning power play in Game 1 of their second-round playoff game. Confusion ensued over whether there is a rule to stop or not stop play for a broken piece of equipment. Rask did give up a power play goal but shut down the Lightning the rest of the way in a 6-2 victory.

College Team Uses Old Sticks
to Help Clean Coastal Waters
 

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's hockey team is using old hockey sticks to create artificial oyster reefs to help keep coastal waters clean. One oyster can filter 50 gallons of water daily and one reef can host 400 oysters. The idea came from FGCU assistant coach and scientific researcher Bob Wasno.

The collaboration for the purchase of hockey equipment by U.S. hockey dealers between HDA, the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) and SDC (Sports Distributors of Canada) continues to grow.

There is no obligation to complete the form. Criteria used by SDC to determine participation may include a minimum sales volume of $200,000 in annual wholesale hockey products, credit rating, proximity to existing members and meeting certain store standards.

Did you know?

Brian Skrudland of the Montreal Canadiens scored the fastest playoff goal in NHL history in the 1986 Stanley Cup Finals. Skrudland scored nine seconds into Game 2 to give the Canadiens a 3-2 win over the Calgary Flames. Montreal evened the series and went on to win the next three games and its 23rd Stanley Cup.
