April! I love April. The days are becoming longer. The birds are back. The flowers are getting ready to peek their way up through the ground. Spring is a beautiful time in Wisconsin. Sunday, April 21st is the most beautiful day of Spring; the whole year even. It is a day of beauty, glory, grace and mercy. It is the day that the Lord has risen! Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are blessed to have eternal life in Heaven.

Eternal life in Heaven is the greatest gift that we can receive. As we prepare to celebrate Easter, remember what Jesus did for us. He took a long and difficult road to His death. He suffered horrifically up on that cross. He gave His life so that everyone of us has eternal life. His death may not be as beautiful as Spring, but nothing will beat the beauty of Heaven.

"Christ the Lord has Risen" is one of my favorite songs. Everytime I hear this song it gives me the goosebumps.I would like to share one of my favorite renditions of it.

What a fantastic quarter we've had in the 7th and 8th grade classroom! In ELA, we continue to plug away at improving our reading and writing skills. The students took their ancient Greek mythology exam before spring break and are currently putting together a mythology report and Google Slides presentation. Starting after break, students will begin reading an abridged version of Homer's Iliad (Trojan War).

In math, we also continue to improve our skills. During the 4th quarter, the classes will study graphing solutions to inequalities, polynomials, functions, probability and more advanced geometry. (Sounds exciting doesn't it, smile.) During math, students are given class time to complete their math homework. This ensures all kids finish their math AND receive help if necessary.

Thank you to everyone for making Lebanon Lutheran such a spectacular school!

Take care,
Mrs. Meyers

The 3rd quarter is wrapped up and grades are locked in. There is A LOT of school year remaining to improve, challenge, make gains, discover, explore, expand, and grow. Every day is important. The 4th quarter, Easter, and more daylight give us the promise of spring.

While wrapping up our science unit on the Solar System and the Universe, the kids were challenged to find objects representing the planets, based on the Earth being a 1" diameter marble.

The class finished reading "Three Times Lucky" and will now start "Out of My Mind". The award winning novel by Sharon Draper is told through the eyes of a ridiculously smart eleven year old girl with cerebral palsy. Confined to a wheelchair, without the use of her arms, legs, or voice, Melody has an interesting perspective on the world - one we should all be aware of.

Once again, we loved spending the day with our grandparents at school. This event WOULD NOT happen without our PTL, their dedication and their funds. PLEASE be involved in PTL before we lose this organization and the essential resource.

Spring has finally arrived! We blink and March is over! Hope you all have a fun, relaxing and safe Spring Break. This month we had preparation for Grandparents' Day. I am very impressed with the students' performances and the dedication from the teachers as well. Looked like all the grandparents had a fun time as well. Girls On The Run started this month as well and I am a new proud coach! 9 girls this year from LLS learning about positive image and positive self talk. When we get back from Spring Break, we have MAP testing and preparing for a fun spring musical.

Blessings,
Mrs. Skaer

March was a busy, short month in the first and second grade classroom! Who knew 3 weeks would go by so quickly! We began the month of March with Wacky Wednesday in honor of Dr. Seuss. We dressed wacky after we attended Ash Wednesday church. We read Dr. Seuss books, made rhyming words, and did some fun math activities! On March 7, we celebrated No Books Day, courtesy of the Watertown Daily Times and Newspapers in Education.  We learned about the parts of the newspaper, headings, advertising, and even learned about planets with Kid Scoop! We graphed the weather for math and science and even alphabetized some of the headings!

The big event of March was our annual Grandparents Day! Since our theme was space, the families made faith bracelets, constellations out of pipe cleaners and beads, played an I Spy Space activity and even rolled some space dice to tally, count and graph our rolls. We read some Dr. Seuss books or poetry binders, and even played a few card games! It was an awesome day! Thanks to all the volunteers who helped set up, serve and clean up!

March flew by quickly... we started out by celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday with Wacky Wednesday on March 6th. We dressed in wacky outfits and built patterned Truffala trees. The next day we had Fox in Socks Day and wore wacky socks. We read several of Dr. Seuss books and learned about his life.

We have been learning about simple machines and magnets in Science with Ms. Long. We learned about hinges, pushing and pulling and pulleys. We realized that simple machines are all around us! We loved using the magnets in discovering what is magnetic and what isn't.

The past two weeks we have been reading about Curious George and how he is able to turn his mischief into something good. The Curious George books are always a favorite with the Kindergarteners.

Grandparents' Day was fun showing our grandparents and doing things with them. We colored our Kinder astronauts and looked for planets and stars in water beads. We played some balancing games and read Curious George books. Our favorite thing was using the parachute to the Star Wars theme song!

Our days as Kindergarteners are slowly winding to a close and we have made so much progress in reading and math. We are anxious for warmer weather and looking forward to Easter.

Looking forward to Spring!
Blessings,
Mrs. Damrow

March came in like a lion, and here in 4K we counted every day.  We are so glad that our lamb days are catching up to our lion days!  We know it means that sunny, warm days are in our future.  We are grateful for all that God has given us! We are learning about the blessed Church Season of Lent and what Jesus endured for us.  Ash Wednesday chapel was a special day to reflect on this and remember all God does for us.

4K started March with Wacky Wednesday and Dr. Seuss week.  We read so many of his books.  Wacky Wednesday was a great day to dress wacky and crazy and look around the school for all the wacky things that happened.  We had chairs on our ceiling and our smart board picture was upside down.  There were boots on our table legs and some of our pants were on backwards.  We celebrated the wonderful worlds of Dr. Seuss by bringing in our favorite books: Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax, Fox in Socks and A, B,C Book.  We were able to show off our crazy socks when we read Fox in Socks!

We also learned about colors this month.  We marbled painted some planets for grandparents day.  It was surprising to see that the colors didn't mix together in the shaving cream or on the paper.  Ms. Long gave us each a Ziploc bag full of shaving cream and two colors to mix.  We made orange by mixing yellow and red, green by mixing yellow and blue, and purple by mixing red and blue.  We learned how light is full of our colors and a prism will show us a rainbow.  Colors are fun to explore with.

Lastly, we celebrated our wonderful Grandparents.  We had so much fun showing them our classroom and doing our stations with them.  We made cards and bookmarks with them.  We played games and did nuts and bolts with them.  We even got to have a special snack with our grandparents.  The chapel service for the them was very special and we showed them how we sing our Goodbye Song.  The best part was the Solar System Song we performed for them.   We each got to be a planet and go around the Sun!  We love to perform.

As we continue our school year, we are looking forward to warmer weather, great books, friends and fellowship as we continue to learn about our world and our God!!

March hopefully means we are getting closer to spring, with March 21 being the first day of Spring. We know it is Wisconsin and we can have snow in March and April, let's pray that is not the case. With that being said, we sure are glad the snow has melted and we can enjoy being outside without snow pants and boots.

We did a lot of fun activities in March. We celebrated Mardi Gras with Fat Tuesday, we enjoyed lots of treats. Since St. Patrick's Day fell on a Sunday, we decided to have a party on Monday. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed yummy treats!

We have been learning in our reading lesson about Country and City. The kids sure know what is in the country. The students are learning new words everyday! The 3K class had fun celebrating Dr. Seuss Birthday with a Dr. Seuss readathon. Thank you to the staff Ms. Jenny, Ms. Shola and Pastor for joining in the fun with our celebration reading to the students, they enjoyed it.

I want to thank everyone that came for Grandparents Day - it was such a success. The performances were wonderful and all the activities were a success. My first experience with Grandparents Day was a blessing!

All of us, I am sure are looking forward to Spring Break this month and hoping for the start of warmer weather! Gods Blessings to all of you and may you have a joyous week off!

Dear parents,

The spaghetti dinner was a real success. All of the teachers worked so hard along with the tremendous help from our parents. We could not have done it without their help. After the wall is taken down, we will purchase items to enhance all 4 classrooms. The teachers are working closely with our Youngstar Representative to outfit each room with 5 visible learning education/play centers (science, math, reading, dramatics, art). The materials will change in the center as themes are put into motion. Children are born learning. They learn through play by observing, exploring, experimenting, talking, pretending and having fun. Babies explore and learn about the world and people around them by using all their senses, moving their bodies, and interacting with others. Toddlers do things over and over to see if the same thing happens every time. They will repeat the words, songs, and rhymes of the adults close to them. Older children add props, use more complex language, and engage their friends in extensive pretend games. All of these play experiences provide an important foundation for understanding language, learning about the world, solving problems, getting along with others, and achieving success in school and life. This is what play-based learning is all about. Children develop vocabulary as they interact with adults, express themselves and talk with other children. It provides a hands-on experience that builds a solid foundation for school success. Through play, young children develop the ability to express their feelings, ideas and needs. They learn to listen, take turns, and consider the feelings, ideas and needs of others. Pretend play develops imagination and creativity. It provides opportunities for children to re-create and understand their real-life experiences. This is what we do and what we teach our children. If one should have any questions, please ask!

I wish that all have a wonderful Spring Break as the ECC remains open. April is around the corner and the most wonderful time of the year is upon us - Easter.

God's Blessings,
Shola Fohr

All the classes have been working hard on our songs for our spring musical, "A Not so Terrible Parable."  This year's musical is based on the story of the Good Samaritan from the Gospel of Luke. The story has been reset at a motel in 1939, where the characters learn the same lesson... who is my neighbor? All the classes have also reviewed songs for Grandparents' Day chapel and program.

Mark your calendars for the last Sing Sunday, the Spring Musical, and 8th grade Graduation. Just a reminder that attendance is expected for these performances.

Feliz Primavera! Happy Spring!

I have been enjoying the nicer weather, and I am looking forward to incorporating lessons and games we can do outside as it gets even warmer. In Spanish, 5-8 are making excellent progress on their chapter books in Spanish. I love watching them use their group and individual translation skills as we move forward. In 3-4, we are on the edge of our seats with our video series through Spain. We are currently on episode 11 and just did a great job on our test over episodes 1-10. In 1-2, we are learning about different parts of the house, creating charts and pictures labeling all the rooms and places. In Kindergarten, we just finished a unit on family words and are moving into learning about body parts in Spanish. We are super excited about playing "Simon Dice" in Spanish.

In art class, now that we have completed our art walk successfully, we are moving into learning about Georgia O'Keefe, a famous artis t of landscapes and flowers who was born and raised in Wisconsin. 3-4 are making magnets with different landscape circles inspired by her work. 5-6 are recreating a warm/cool color portrait of shells inspired by her work.  Each class also completed a St. Patrick's Day project, using different mediums to create Celtic designs that were significant to them individually.   7-8 are painting and coloring large representations of famous works (The Scream and The Mona Lisa). They also chose their own project last week. I was encouraged by their creativity and inventiveness.

Moving forward, we are going to be focusing on some spring art, especially water colors and paper projects. We will also be molding, glazing, and firing some clay projects!
