District Update
Spring Break is upon us. I hope everyone is able to "recharge their batteries" before our final push to the end of the school year.
Many time March can be a "quiet month" due to the fact it is typically in between athletic seasons, but I wanted to take a second to highlight just a few of the MANY events/awards/accolades from March and the end of February:
- Our HS choir received an "Excellent" rating in Class A at the OMEA competition.
-Pre-School students just completed a movement activity in cooperation with Muse Machine that was funded by the Dupps Company.
-Our HS Student Council just finished hosting our annual Senior Citizens Brunch at
the high school.
-Our FFA program was just awarded the "Gold" rating as one of the top 10% of programs in the state!
-Our school board was recognized with the "Gold" rating by the Ohio School Boards Association.
-Our wrestling team sent 4 individuals to the state wrestling tournament.
-Our 4th grade students just completed a recorder concert.
-We had a student make the podium at the state indoor track meet.
-We had a number of our junior high students complete the "Prime for Life" program in coordination with assistance from the Montgomery County ESC.
-Our girls basketball team was crowned District Champions!
-Our students completed the VV STEM FAIR. Our first place winner won $410 for the project titled, "How Fast Do Different Biodegradable Products Decompose?"
-Our HS musical, "Mamma Mia", completed its sold-out run to thunderous applause.
-Our primary students just completed "Crazy Socks Day" in support of World Down Syndrome Day.
-Our VVHS Ohio Energy Team worked with regional 5th grade students at Wright State University.
-Our Intermediate building just completed a Family Game night to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
-We have increased our AP and CC+ offerings for next year at the HS, meaning a
student can graduate Valley View High School without EVER stepping foot OFF our campus and earn 28 College Credits between the CC+ and AP courses we offer HERE! Next year it will be 32.
There are many more, but I think the point is clear...we are staying VERY busy at VV. We look forward to seeing you back in April!!
Proud to be your Superintendent,
Ben Richards
