Remember the Troops

Over the years, we've heard many heartwarming stories as a result of the generosity of Dallastown Area School District students, faculty, staff, and the community during the holiday season. This year is no different.

PFC Roger Matthews was fortunate to be able to leave his station at Fort Lee to surprise his first grade twin daughters at Ore Valley Elementary just before the holiday break.

During his brief leave, he also visited Dallastown Area High School to extend his appreciation to the Volunteer Club as a recipient of the 2018 Remember the Troops drive. In his request to visit he stated, "Thank you so, so much for everything the school district sent--believe me, nothing makes soldiers smile more than letters and candy!" Matthews added, "I was written by a certain 11th grader named Chloe Seace. Her letter really touched a lot of us soldiers here and I would like to personally thank her from all of us."

So again, we thank our Dallastown community for your generosity, compassion, and willingness to give in this annual effort of appreciation to our service men and women. And may your 2019 be filled with peace and joy.
The Scientists Among Us

A tradition for 58 years, the Dallastown Area High School Science and Engineering Fair will be held Saturday, January 26th, and Sunday, January 27th, in the science wing of the high school.
The public is invited to view more than 100 student submissions on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday in the high school auditorium.
Dallastown Area High School students have a long history of county awards and opportunities to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair based on their award-winning projects at the school level. We encourage community members to join us--surely you will be impressed with the creative and scientific knowledge that the student projects display.
