Today's presentation: Hope Clubhouse
Our speaker today was James Wineinger. This agency is a community of support for adults living with a mental illness which provides opportunities for paid employment, housing and wellness. We learned that 18.5% of our population in Lee County has a diagnosable mental health disorder. The top 3 illnesses are; clinical depression, bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia. At Hope Clubhouse those who participate are referred to as "members" and not clients or patients. They perform a wide variety of tasks necessary to the operation of the program in and atmosphere of mutual caring and respect with staff. Members work in the career development unit, the business unit and culinary unit. James invited all of us to come take a tour.
