2019 Dominican Republic
Mission Team
Christ Episcopal Church
Valdosta, Georgia
Teen Project(s)
Teen Project(s): Our team is blessed to have three teenagers this year. We are working with Padre Canela to organize a group of Dominican teenagers to join with our teenagers in projects the entire week. While all the projects are not finalized, we hope to have a sewing class; sports events; art projects; bracelet making classes; a service project for the camp; a day at Rancho Baiguate, an ecological education center in Jarabacoa; and finally, lots of assistance with the splash party we host for 125 local children on the lawn in front of the main dormitory. For more information on Rancho Baiguate, click here .

Flight Number Change: If your flights for this trip are based in Valdosta, you probably saw the email message from Delta last week changing the number of the flight on June 24 from Atlanta to Valdosta from DL 3723 to DL 3968. The times of the flight were not changed: departure 9:16 p.m., arrival 10:20 p.m. The information on flights on the planning page has been updated accordingly.

Selling Tickets for the DR Dinner and Auction: On Sunday, March 24, there will be an information insert in Christ Church's Sunday bulletin about our 2019 mission trip and the DR Dinner and Auction. To see this insert, click here . Ticket sales for this May 3 event are going a bit slowly, so please help by spreading the word and encouraging others to attend and help support scholarships and project costs. If you would like to donate one or more items to the auction, please let Julia know at < juliacariail@gmail.com >. For photographs from the 2018 dinner and auction, click here .

Team Fee (Approximately $650) Due April 30: We have asked the mission team support office in Santo Domingo to send us a quotation for the costs of our room and board at the Campamento, our in-country transportation by chartered bus, and our overnight stay in the Novus Plaza Caribe hotel in Santo Domingo on June 23. It might be another week or so before that response comes back. In the past few years, this team fee that pays for those costs plus some of the costs of our projects and other incidental items like taxi rides in the Jarabacoa area has been approximately $650, and we expect it to be about the same for this trip. We'll send out another message with the exact amount just as soon as we receive the report back from Santo Domingo. We need to send our payment for those items to the diocesan office on May 3 to make sure the funds arrive at the Campamento at least one month before our arrival on June 17.
