The New York legislature is called to consider 3 proposals to ban single use plastic bags. Some of the bans are arguably more effective than others, and incorporate what other municipalities have learned working with the same issue. Go to Riverkeeper.org for more information. Deadline is April 1 to contact your representative. There is a template letter and more information at Riverkeeper Take Action.
From the Racial Social Justice Team

"White Affirmative Action" - the title of this week's Seeing White podcast episode - isn't about the recent college admissions scandal, but about the special options for Whites built into laws and government programs throughout the nation's history - background information that can offer insights for next month's book discussion on White Fragility. Copies are available to purchase during coffee hour. Quotes from the book are also posted on the Racial Justice bulletin board in the hall.

Share the Plate for March : Lifting Up Westchester

For almost four decades Lifting Up Westchester has worked to permanently change the lives of our neighbors in crisis. Our collection will support services at the Open Arms shelter, which offers temporary housing for up to 38 homeless adult men. Open Arms provides more than a bed, shower, and meal; their guests receive support and encouragement to engage in recovery programs or employment services, as each man follows his own path to a better life.
Unirondack Camp

If you have youth between the ages of 8 and 17 who are looking to connect with other UU youth, enjoy fun in the Adirondack Mountains, eat s'mores, create art and music, and play while learning about the importance of community all shaped by Unitarian Universalist values, welcome to Unirondack. Visit unirondack.org.
