Dear Students and Families,

I am writing to update you on a decision that has been made about the process of moving in to the dormitories. After a comprehensive look at other schools' policies and reviewing the CDC guidelines, we have come to the conclusion that no family members will be allowed into the dormitories to help their student move in. We believe this decision is in the best interest of all students and helps ensure we start the school year healthy.

This was a very difficult conclusion to reach, knowing all that goes into a family's decision to join a boarding school community. We are hopeful that visitation restrictions will shift soon and that being with your child and seeing their dorm space is possible. In the meantime, Orientation trip leaders will work with the students in their groups to help guide the unpacking and settling-in process and encourage them to share their spaces with you on Facetime or Zoom.

Although we would like to allow parents to visit their children during the term, it is not clear at this time when that might be possible. We are taking these testing and quarantine steps during the Arrival process to minimize the risk to all members of the community. But, please know that we will do our best to find a way to make those visits possible as soon as it is safe to do so. We hope you understand that the health and safety of our students and families, as well as the larger Gould and Bethel communities, must be our top priority.

Please remember that your child must have a Negative Covid-19 Test Result with them when they arrive on campus. Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter. If you have any questions, you may contact me at Manningr@gouldacademy.org or 207-357-7581.

Hoping you’re well,
Rob Manning
