DuPage County Institute Day Classes
Friday, March 1st 2019 - Earn 5 CEUs
Join us for a free experiential learning course this institute day! Earn CEUs while enhancing your understanding through site visits and hands-on activities.
Submerge yourself in the dynamic world of water! You'll visit the Elmhurst Quarry guided by DuPage County stormwater engineers. Then tour the rarely-open-to-the-public Urban Stream Research Center. We'll wrap up with training on the watershed model at SCARCE.

Join us to tour buildings on the cutting edge of energy efficient design. Explore Argonne's LEED Gold Energy Sciences Building and learn about energy research taking place. After our second stop (TBA) we'll make energy tangible with SCARCE's energy bike, a hands-on classroom tool.

Applications are open for the 2019 Clean Diesel Grants from the US EPA amounting to $40 million dollars in awards. Learn how your school or agency can apply to upgrade your fleet and protect young lungs in an info webinar:

Don't let your students miss out on this fantastic STEAM learning opportunity! Whether you are a teacher, club sponsor, or guidance counselor you can sponsor a student team. Students gain invaluable experience to add to their college resume, make career connections and could win cash prizes of up to $500.

Participation is free and open to any DuPage County high school student.

Team registration opens in February.
Food waste is a huge problem that we can all help combat. The Natural Resources Defense Council has compiled a bulleted list of strategies for success to reduce wasted food at school. Get ideas or check your progress if you've already got an effort in place.
December was a busy month for SCARCE and our resource center. We were able to help schools recovering from hurricanes in the southeast and divert tons of items from the landfill.
Help Us Restock our Children's Book Shelves
After a busy December full of relief projects, our children's reading book supplies are drained! If you are weeding out in your home, classroom or school library, please give us a call to donate your books.

Don't forget to box your donations and  schedule an appointment  for donations of 5+ boxes. Thank you!
