Want to score some points with parents? Tell them they never have to register EVER AGAIN!

Yeah, it's true! We know annual registration is a grueling process, so we're taking the stress away. No registration for returning students in 2019-20 or ever again! Only families who are brand new to SCS will have to register each year. Returning parents just have to update any student info if it changes year to year using the new Year-Round Updates form in PowerSchool. More info will be shared directly with families this week, but you can score some points with parents at your school by being first to break the news. And, if you're also a parent, double score!
It's the final stretch to the 2019 SCS Science and Engineering Fair!

STEM educators, the big event is just days away! We'll see you and your students at the Pink Palace March 26-28 for the SCS Science and Engineering Fair . Teachers and students can set up projects next Tuesday , 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Invite parents and community members to see your students' work Thursday, March 26 , 5-7 p.m., during the public exhibition. View the full event schedule here .
SCS is providing FREE meals for summer student programs.

If your school or community organization is hosting after-school or summer programs for students in Shelby County, you may qualify to receive free meals and snacks provided by SCS Nutrition Services and the TN Department of Human Services. If your school or any organization that supports students at your school or in your community wants to learn more about getting the free meals, be sure to attend an upcoming mandatory training session.
Speaking of no-cost meals, don't forget to do your part to support the Mid-South Food Bank!

The 2019 Kids Kan food drive ends next week, and awesome prizes are still up for grabs for schools, classrooms and individual students. Encourage your students and entire school community to donate non-perishable foods by March 29 to qualify for sweet prizes, including an Incredible Pizza gift card for all participating students, a classroom party sponsored by Kroger for the top classroom in each school and a trophy school supply prize pack for the top elementary and middle schools in our District. Donations raised during this campaign go directly back to students in our community who benefit from summer meal programs and local food pantries.
Use Bright Bytes to boost learning outcomes in your classroom!

BrightBytes Learning Outcomes will be your new best friend for monitoring student success on educational platforms. The benefit? Learning Outcomes will pinpoint impacts on which educational platforms are failing and which are succeeding. The only thing we need on your end is to let students know it’s okay to click “yes” when they see the Learning Outcomes pop-up on a school computer or device! Send an email to DAIM@scsk12.org if you have any questions.
Graduation season is around the corner! Tell us about outstanding seniors who deserve kudos.

In case your students haven't reminded you, we're in the final 9-week grading period of the school year. That means seniors are preparing to say farewell to SCS. Help us send the class of 2019 off in grand fashion by submitting a senior shout-out for a chance to have them featured in District and local media during graduation season. We want to hear stories of students who are leading their peers in extraordinary fashion, seniors who overcame obstacles to get to graduation or any cool kids pursuing a unique college or career opportunity. Check out some examples from the class of 2018 and submit your shout-out here by April 5.
Earn some cash by helping our District's 2019-20 staff recruitment efforts!

We only have 45 days left in this school year, but that's just enough time for us to recruit some of the best teachers to lead our classrooms next school year. If you know of great teaching candidates who would be a good fit in our schools, refer them for an opportunity to earn up to $500. Want some more good news? If you plan to retire or resign at the end of this school year, telling us by March 22 could lead to a cash incentive because knowing sooner helps us recruit the best educators to join our team.
