We probably all spend more time inside and at home during the in colder winter months. This being the case, we need to take inventory to be sure our homes are safe! Here's a checklist from AARP that may be helpful as you assess your home.

Collages created by older adults at Bergen Family Center and SESCIL (Southeast Senior Center for Independent Living), working with professional artist Dan Fenelon, were unveiled during a ribbon-cutting just before Christmas. Entitled "Build A Village," the artwork is located in shadow-boxes on Daisy Place, between North Van Brunt and the Shoprite Parking Lot. Have a look!

Re-Defining Retirement
The Bergen Volunteer Center
will have a
Redefining Retirement
"Matchmaker" stationed at the Englewood Public Library on Tuesdays, January 8 and February 12, from 1-3 PM.
The Match-makers help retirees find volunteer opportunities -- in nonprofits in Englewood or elsewhere in Bergen County -- that use their experience and skills while also meeting their interests and time availability.

Englewood Public Library hosts bookgroups, discussions, shows FREE classic movies and offers myriad activities for people of all ages

Flat Rock Brook Nature Center's 3+ miles of trails are open dawn to dusk daily; the Center also hosts guided walks and a number of programs that point out wildlife and seasonal changes -- even during the winter!
Kaplen JCC on the Palisades
offers a full-service day program with Kosher lunch and very low cost transportation plus a calendar jam-packed with activities, which are FREE.
Palisades Interstate Park is huge and has numerous programs throughout the park every month. Check out their many beautiful sites and activities!
Senior Source in The Shops at Riverside (Riverside Square) offers activities free of charge weekday mornings through early afternoon.
