LONG RANGE PLANNING
COMMITTEE
Harvey Poppel Presents Committee Report to Council
Harvey L. Poppel, Civic Association Director
Civic Association Director and Long Range Planning Committee Chairman Harvey L. Poppel presented an update to the Town Council this week.

"The reason for the Civic Association's committee is to address the many transformative and potentially disruptive issues," said Mr. Poppel.

A couple of examples of technologies that the Town of Palm Beach will have to consider in the future are autonomous (driverless) vehicles; and drones that will transport packages and people and perform government, corporate, and residential services.

"The goals of the committee are to identify, define and prioritize these types of issues which may impact Palm Beach over the next 10 to 20 years," said Mr. Poppel.

undergrounding
The next step in a lawsuit filed against the town and its underground utility project will take place Friday, court records show, when the two plaintiffs argue the suit should earn a class-action classification. The suit, filed in July 2017 by residents Carol Kosberg and Michael Scharf, challenged the Town Council's decision to impose special assessments on property owners to help pay for Palm Beach's estimated $90 million townwide underground utility project, a multiyear plan to bury overhead utility lines.
