Changing of the Guard
 
The New Year has ushered in lay leadership changes. Judy Mellinger has stepped down as head of the Altar Guild; Karen Sheppard is now taking the helm. Judy Smith now chairs the Prayer Team, taking over for Jackie Pitts. And Mike Cox, of the Men's Group, is stepping down and Bill James is the new contact person. Thank you all!
 

 

Daughters of the King
 
There will be a brief meeting of the Daughters of the King after church this Sunday, January 13.

Cursillo Reunion
 
There is a short meeting for all who have participated or are interested in Cursillo on Saturday, January 19 at 2pm at the home of Linda Dinkins, 1038 Ardrey Circle Evans. RSVP at 706-755-8124.
 

Men's Group Meeting
 
The Holy Comforter Men's Group meets January 20 at 6:00pm, at the Rack and Grill, 3481 River Watch Pkwy. **Please note time change.
 

Annual Meeting and Luncheon
 
Our Annual Parish Meeting is Sunday, January 27 after our worship service. As part of our meeting we will have elections for two slots on the Vestry, elect delegates to our Diocesan Convention and approve the 2019 budget. Current Vestry members Fred Hoogland and Dave Blake are eligible to run for a second term and both have indicated their willingness to run again. However, other nominees are welcomed.
 
This will also be a celebration of all that God has done for us and through us in 2019. Nomination forms for Vestry and Diocesan convention delegates are available in the foyer or at the link below. A nursery will be available and a light lunch will be served.


 

  Pastoral Care Team Formation

January 30 from 5:30pm-6:30pm

This is a national, one day focus on hunger that is scheduled on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3. On this day, youth across the nation raise money for Food Banks. Put at least $1 in the soup pot and bring non-perishable food. And thank you for your support.

January 13: Reflections on an African Mission:   Cheryl Spessert recently spent time in Ethiopia as part of the Three Rivers Mission. She'll share her experiences and biblical reflections as well as the difficulties that arise in trying to solve Third World problems without engaging in partnership.

January 20:  Conclusion of our series on Jon Meacham's book,  The Soul of America:  The Battle for Our Better Angels.  
 

Parent Led Bible Study

January 13:  This class will meet with the Rector's Forum

YOUTH


Sunday, January 13

Middle school meets from 5:00-6:00pm.  
Topic: Compassion and Acts of Mercy Part 2.  

High school meets from 6:30-7:30pm.  
Topic: Building Community-worship and serve.   

Both groups will meet for dinner and fellowship from 6:00-6:30 pm.  


Sunday, January 20

Youth group will have a Scavenger Hunt from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Dinner is provided.

    •  Go to our website, click giving and use Pay Pal
    •  Make checks out to Holy Comforter and/or give cash  and  put it in  the offertory  plate on Sunday.
    •  Remember Holy Comforter in your will.
    •  For those with an IRA account, consider using your   Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) as a way to give.
    •  All gifts are tax deductible
