Do you have an inspiring story to share? Tell us about it! Take a moment to submit a nomination for the: 

  • Wong Moss Outstanding Alumni Award for exceptional professional, community and educational accomplishments. To be eligible, nominees must have successfully completed 30 or more credits during their academic career, but need not have graduated from the College.
  • Alumni Professional Achievement Award for outstanding accomplishment in a chosen profession. To be eligible, nominees must have successfully completed 15 or more credits during their academic career. Graduates are desired, but certificate/program graduates (e.g., Municipal Police Academy graduates) are eligible.

Visit www.dccc.edu/alumni-friends/awards to find the nomination forms, criteria or see a list of previous winners. A current resume is required for all nominations regardless of category. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. The deadline for all nominations is February 22, 2019.

CONNECTIONS
January’s alumni profile came by way of an advertisement in a local newspaper late last month . We’re pleased to share the story of Robert McLaughlin ’73 who just released his second book Witness to Treason: How the GOP, Trump and Greed Betrayed America .

He’s come a long way since starting at the Dante campus in 1968, eventually graduating and experiencing a successful business career and new creative venture.
EVENTS
Alumni Meet and Greet: January 24
The Alumni Association will host its winter networking event on tonight from 6-7:30 p.m. at Chickie’s and Pete’s (Pilgrim Gardens Shopping Center) in Drexel Hill. President Lynda Lichti ’12 will share plans for the spring semester including social events, networking opportunities and related plans that benefit both graduates and current students. Attendees will have the opportunity to win two general admission tickets to the 2019 Philadelphia Auto Show. 

Golf Classic, June 24
The 2019 Delaware County Community College Golf Classic will be hosted at Rolling Green Golf Club on June 24. Come enjoy a great day of challenging golf, delicious food and camaraderie on one of Delaware County’s most renowned courses.

Career Workshops for Those Seeking a New Start in 2019
Feeling stuck in your current job or looking for a change? The College’s Career and Counseling Center is offering two workshops geared toward helping you secure the career of your dreams.

Jump-Start Your Career
This workshop is perfect for individuals of all ages who feel like they need a career refresh. Participants will learn how to manage their own careers and take the Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory to assess career satisfiers and occupational interests. Offered on Mondays from February 25 through May 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Marple Campus. Cost: $114 for residents of sponsoring school districts, $144 for those in non-sponsoring districts. Launch Your Career Comeback—A Workshop for Women
Looking to re-enter the workforce? Then don’t miss Launch Your Career Comeback, a workshop for women that will give you the tools and guidance to approach career planning and decision-making. Offered on Tuesdays from February 26 to May 7 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Marple Campus. Cost: $125 for residents of sponsoring school districts and $155 for those in non-sponsoring districts.
