Ma Chadash: What's New at Adat Shalom?

From the Office
We are closely monitoring weather conditions especially for this Sunday. In the event of inclement weather that causes a building closure, this will be shared on the listserv and posted on the website by 8:30 AM Sunday.

In the event that the building is closed on Sunday the 13th, the Climate Open Forum and Yesodot HaLimud will occur via Zoom, with details on the website.

Open Forum on Climate Activism and Proposed Advocacy Statement at 9:30 AM
Dear community - we look forward to your input on the following statement on Climate and Ecology.  Adat Shalom has long been known for its green actions and commitments; we are regularly visited by churches, shuls, and others as a demonstration site and a model green congregation.  Now through January 14th all feedback - specific recommended edits, questions, statements of unqualified support or opposition, etc. - is solicited.  Please send your thoughts to  [email protected] ; it will all be shared (without name attribution unless otherwise specified) with a circle of leaders and editors, who will summarize the input for the Board.  A final vote on this version, likely with at least a few edits drawn from the feedback, is expected in late January.     View the statement here.

Social Action Movie Night: Raised in the System at 6:15 PM

With more than 850,000 juveniles arrested annually, the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate of minors. This feature sheds light on those youth caught up in the system. Emmy-nominated actor Michael Kenneth Williams ("The Wire") explores why the country's mass incarceration problem can't be fixed without first addressing the juvenile justice problem, and investigates solutions that local communities have employed resulting in drastic drops in crime and incarceration. RSVP here. Check website for inclement weather closure.
