Water Wings
Jim Mehler preaching

Dear Covenant friends and family,
Water. Baptism. Jesus. They all come together in the Gospel text for Sunday. The Synoptics (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) all have the story of Jesus' baptism. Each ends with a variant of the voice from heaven saying: "You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased." There is an interesting variant reading in some ancient texts: "You are my Son, today I have begotten you." Something, something new created. Hum. By the waters of baptism, something is created. By the wind of God, the Spirit of God, something is created. Guess what? Whether dipped, dunked, or sprinkled, a new you was created ... a new you in the model of Jesus. Today, this day, sisters and brothers, you are begotten. Watch out. Well, that's the idea as of today; who knows what will transpire on Sunday. See you then.

2019 Per Capita is $35.75 Per Member
Each member of Covenant is also a member of the larger church, the Presbyterian Church USA. As such, it is part of our responsibility to support the work of the administrative bodies of the national church – the General Assembly, the Synod, and the Presbytery. We do this by making a per capita payment each January. The per capita for 2019 is $35.75 per member, for a total payment due of $21,093. This figure is based upon our church membership roll as of Dec. 31, 2017. We invite you to pay your share of the per capita so that this money does not need to come from this year’s budget. Your contribution will free up funds for other vital church programs that meet the spiritual needs of our congregation. Envelopes are on the welcome table.
You can now get your quarterly statement emailed
Emailing statements is much less expensive for the church, provides quicker delivery, and you can save and print your statement for your files. If you are interested in an emailed copy of your statement of giving please reply to Ingrid Smith at  ingridsmith@covenantpcusa.org .
Don't Forget to Pick Up Your Picture Directory
If you haven't already done so, please pick up your copy of the member directory in the hall this Sunday. Look for the label with your name and start meeting and learning about your church family. Soon, you’ll receive info on how to access this directory on the new app on your phone.
Considering buying a labyrinth brick for the entrance to our neighborhood prayerful wandering space? The labyrinth is a walking meditation where we can step out of the busyness of life to be still and focus on what we find within. Please consider purchasing a paver brick with your etched message for $100 or a plain brick for $80. Order forms and sample bricks are in the hall or click here to submit a form and pay with PayPal on our website.
