The Fresh Air Fund:
Give the Gift of a Summer Vacation to a City Child This Summer!

We are seeking volunteer host families who are willing to open their hearts and homes to give New York City children from low-income communities an experience they'll never forget. Children ages 7-12 stay for one to two weeks and are eager to experience the summer life our community has to offer - stargazing, running barefoot in the grass, playing at Mead Park, or enjoying a concert at Waveny. Please contact Lisa Hill, New Canaan Fresh Air Fund Chairperson, at 203-594-9472 or  [email protected] or visit our website ( www.freshair.org) for information about the program. We will be hosting informational coffees  April 25 and May 15. Please contact Lisa for more information.

Spotlight on Staff - Mr. Gjoka
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be?
A walk in space.  I had the honor to meet and was inspired by Michael J. Massimo (PH.D.) former NASA ASTRONAUT. I met with him in 2011 as part of the engineering program when I was the S.T.E.M. Director at the H.S.E.A. (High School Engineering Academy). Michael was eloquent when he talked to the students and faculty about his experience on his space walks. If you want to learn more about him, please click HERE

Aside from necessities, what is one thing you could not go a day without?
Hope & Faith.  I have learned from my past that persistence always pays off.  No matter how many challenges I face, I always have Hope. I keep the Hope that things will change for the better and I keep the Faith that God Will Walk With Me on my  journey.

What are three things you like about yourself?
I am resourceful, passionate about education, and I am appreciative and grateful for the parents, students, faculty and staff at St. Aloysius School.

What is your favorite thing about being a principal?
I have had such positive experiences at St. A's. The image of the children running into school in the morning with smiling faces kicks off my day!
