Update! St. Elizabeth's Jubilee Center seeks an executive director (but now there's a $6,000 a year stipend!)

The newly-formed Board of Directors seeks someone to take on the role of Executive Director, a position that will require about 15 hours a week. At its board meeting earlier this week, members approved a $500 per month stipend for the executive director post.

Anyone interested should review the full position description located here and send a resume (references to be made available on request) to Board Chair Martha Parshley at [email protected]

The 79th General Convention of the Episcopal Church made easy

Every wonder what General Convention is and what goes on there.
For the ever-game Dick Rozene of St. Ann's, Windham, Austin will be his second GC. He has been invited to serve on the Congregational and Diocesan Vitality Committee.

In advance of the 79th gathering in Austin, Texas, this summer, the Diocese of Texas has created this fun and  handy booklet to explain it all.  Check it out!

Stay-tuned for ways to keep tabs on coverage of General Convention and your Maine deputation - including Deputy of the Day posts wherein that day's deputy shares a post (voluntarily) and wears the lobster hat on the floor of the House of Deputies (mostly voluntarily) as well as Bishop Lane's nightly video recaps, news from Episcopal News Service, Corridor Conversation videos with Maine deputies and friends.

Also, for real time, updates beginning July 3, join the "Mainers in Austin" Facebook group.

Deacon Shield
Two opportunities in Maine to ask: What is a Deacon? How does one become a Deacon in the Episcopal Church in Maine?

Have you ever wondered what Deacons really do?  You might see them on Sunday morning, they might talk about opportunities to serve in the greater community, and they might even ask you to help.

Find out the answers to these questions and any other questions that you might have regarding the Diaconate at Deacon Discovery Days:

Saturday, May 12, at St. Patrick's, Brewer, and Saturday, May 19, at St. Mary's, Falmouth. Both events will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

If you have any questions, please contact Archdeacon Aaron Perkins at  [email protected] or text 207.752.3431.

a diocesan retreat - June 15-17

Join us for a weekend on beautiful Lake Megunticook, at Bishopswood near Camden, Maine.  The annual retreat is an opportunity to step away from the busyness of everyday life and be refreshed.

We'll seek to deepen our awareness of Jesus and open ourselves in generosity and compassion.  We'll also enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, the out-of-doors, campfires and the lake.

Check out the details, see what people are saying about past retreats, and register on the webpage
