Build Sustain Transform

Can you believe we are already 1/3 of the way through 2018!? So much is happening in Iganga, Uganda and we continue to be so grateful for all of your support as we… Build, Sustain, Transform.

Build : We build quality infrastructure for health and education facilities.

Sustain : We are local leaders who believe in our own capacity to drive economic and social growth. We believe that the key to true local ownership is in financial sustainability when the community can effectively run income generating projects, take pride in their accomplishments, and initiative in the way forward. In 2017, our social enterprises generated 90% of our operating budget!

  Transform : We transform…
…. the livelihood of community members by igniting confidence in vulnerable women, challenging them to be job creators; and investing profits towards education and health scholarships, outreaches, and micro-loans.

…the standards of social services by offering quality and affordable education and health care to ALL community members.

…the economy by starting and supporting local businesses, and employing hundreds of community members.

…the hearts of community members through spiritual development centered on love and compassion for one another.

IT'S TIME TO SHINE
In 2017, we provided 156 children and young adults scholarships to go to one of our schools and other higher education institutes that include vocational training centers and universities. It is one of our greatest joys investing in Uganda’s youth because each one of them is a catalyst for a greater tomorrow! In February, we welcomed seven new kiddos to our scholarship program at Musana Nursery and Primary School and we cannot wait to see where God takes them! One of these little sunrays of hope is  Kasaigula Junior .

Junior is six years old and comes from a very poor family in a rural village fifteen minutes away from Musana. Junior’s mother is deaf and mentally disabled, causing mistreatment from the community. With the inability to verbally communicate, she has become a target for sexual violence by men in her village. In fact, she has many children, all born from unknown fathers after sexual abuse. Junior and his siblings all live with their grandmother who cares for her grandchildren and disabled daughter. Unfortunately, she struggles to provide for the children and Junior was forced to leave school due to lack of school fees. We are so excited to provide Junior a scholarship to study at Musana where he is studying in Primary 1. He has the gentlest spirit and is such a joy to be around… he offers so many smiles! We look forward to seeing him grow and thrive in the years to come. God has a plan for him!

If you want to take part in the work that Musana is doing and be linked to Junior or any of our other scholarship kiddos, please join our SHINE Program.

Our SHINE Program gives YOU the opportunity to support Musana’s overarching vision of empowering local people (of all ages, like Junior) through sustainable solutions, shifting the mindset from dependency towards LOCALS believing that they can “be the change”. The SHINE Program supports this vision as a monthly investment of $40 per month towards the expansion of Musana’s presence, igniting a fire within the local people to SHINE in their community. Your recurring gift will shape not just one child’s education or one woman’s economic/skill development, but will help create significant transformation in an entire community through the provision of education, health, and skill development programs.
