VIDEO & PHOTOS: State of our Schools event brings staff and community leaders together
|
At our first annual, State of our Schools event, we had the opportunity to thank our community partners, show them how their involvement contributes to student success and encourage their continued involvement. Over 200 attendees from all sectors of community leadership came to hear Superintendent Dr. Sarah Koligian share information about our district, schools, students and programs.
Did you know? We serve 20,345 students, have 33 schools and 2012 employees, 18 Career Pathways, 11 distinguished schools, and a 97% graduation rate. An overview and presentation from the event can be found
here.
We are grateful for the over 100 local community organizations who have provided internships, industry interaction, volunteers, donations and valuable resources for our students and schools. Want to be part of the FCUSD community? Please visit

Regional planning agency accepting Youth Academy applications
|
Juniors and seniors are encouraged to get involved with the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG).
Having local representation on the youth academy is an important aspect of having student voices heard.
The academy cohort of high school students will provide input to the SACOG Board of Directors on the effects of policies, needs, programs, and budgets impacting the children and youth of the region as it relates to transportation, air quality, environmental and land use planning issues. Academy members will be ambassadors to SACOG and solicit input from other peers in the community to better inform the SACOG Board member of their needs, perspectives, and requests. If someone has an interest in these areas, the academy would be perfect place for them to learn and grow.
Program Participation:
- A minimum commitment of four hours per month
- Attendance at four Saturday trainings in Sacramento
- Attendance to at least one SACOG Board meeting held on the third Thursday of the month at 9:30 a.m.
- Bi-monthly in-person meetings with respective SACOG Board member
- Monthly phone check-ins with Project Coordinator
The program runs December to June. Apply
here and submit an application no later than 5 p.m. on Oct. 29.
Applicant interviews are November 5-9. Notification of selected participants is November 12-16. The kick off meeting with students is in December.
