Garland Names Chief of Police Finalists
City Manager Bryan Bradford has announced the following four finalists for the position of Chief of Police (listed in alphabetical order):
- Jeff Bryan - Assistant Police Chief, Garland, TX
- Charles René - Assistant Police Chief, Garland, TX
- Ely Reyes - Assistant Police Chief, Austin, TX
- Mark Schauer - Assistant Police Chief, Corpus Christi, TX
All of the finalists possess a wealth of diverse experience, demonstrated career stability and strong leadership qualities that will continue the success of Garland Police Department.
The City will conduct a formal candidate review process on Thursday, Feb. 7.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration: Jan. 19 and 20
The NAACP-Garland will host its 30th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, f
ollowed by a special MLK Commemorative Program at the Granville Arts Center, 300 N. Fifth St.
The weekend celebration will continue Sunday, Jan. 20, with the 2019
Garland MLK Youth Extravaganza at 4 p.m.
