This is the final call for 2019 Alumni Award nominations. We’re looking for inspirational stories from our graduates who make a difference thanks to their education in the following categories: 

  • Wong Moss Outstanding Alumni Award for exceptional professional, community and educational accomplishments. To be eligible, nominees must have successfully completed 30 or more credits during their academic career, but need not have graduated from the College.

  • Alumni Professional Achievement Award for outstanding accomplishment in a chosen profession. To be eligible, nominees must have successfully completed 15 or more credits during their academic career. Associate degree graduates are preferred but the award has been given to certificate program graduates in the past (e.g. Municipal Police Academy).

Visit dccc.edu/alumni-friends/awards to find the nomination forms, criteria or see a list of previous winners. A current resume is required for all nominations regardless of category. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. The deadline for all nominations is February 28, 2019.

EVENTS
STEM Career Night, February 21
Learn about high-growth, high-paying career opportunities in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) by attending Delaware County Community College’s twelfth annual STEM Career Night. Following the panel discussion, you will have the opportunity to meet representatives from some of the College’s four-year transfer partner schools as well as local employers. ElderWeek, March 12-14
Delaware County Community College’s 35th annual ElderWeek, for those 55 years and over, features dozens of lively, educational mini classes and the chance to socialize with new and old friends. Elder Week includes continental breakfast and your choice of three workshops each day, plus lunch at the “ElderWeek Café,” daily entertainment, door prizes and giveaways, and a gala “Graduation Party.” Choose a low-cost, three-day or two-day option. Golf Classic, June 24
The 2019 Delaware County Community College Golf Classic will be hosted at Rolling Green Golf Club on June 24. Come enjoy a great day of challenging golf, delicious food and camaraderie on one of Delaware County’s most renowned courses.

CONNECTIONS
This month we would like to share the story of Linda Layer ’84, a professional engineer helping with various construction projects around the United States. In addition to several academic degrees, Layer’s most important job is serving as a foster mom. Her experiences inspired her to write a book titled You Made Me Momma: A Story of Adoption .
