Here are some announcements and reminders that cannot wait until our next regularly scheduled Talon Talk on January 8th. We hope you find this information useful.
Wheels riders, please take note of these bus schedule adjustments .

Wheels Discontinuing Paper Transfers
Effective January 1, 2019, Wheels and Rapid will not be issuing paper transfer sheets for the students to change buses. Here's what students can do instead:
  • When the student gets on the bus for the first time in the morning they give the driver two (2) Fare Buster or Senior/Disabled tickets. The driver will then give the student a Day Pass which can be used on the transfer and the return home. Day Passes offer unlimited rides during a single day.
  • Obtain a Youth Clipper Card - Effective January 1, 2019, a new Youth Fare of $1.60 will be available for passengers 18 years of age and younger who pay using a Youth Clipper Card. Youth Clipper Cards are available at no charge and are available online at clippercard.com, and in person at the Wheels Administrative Offices and the downtown Livermore Transit Center. This discount Youth Fare is not available with any other form of payment, including cash.

Richard D. King Annual Youth Speech Contest
The Pleasanton North Rotary Club will conduct its annual Speech Contest on January 4th at Hap's Restaurant in downtown Pleasanton. The theme is "Be the Inspiration" and it is open to all high school students. At this level, students can win as much as $100 and up to an additional $1,450 if they advance and win at the district level. For details click here .
Looking to Work on Scholarships During Winter Break?
Log into Naviance for to see new scholarships posted. Some are valued at $500 to $5000. Details and applications are within Naviance.


Steps: Login to  Naviance ,  Colleges  (tab), scroll all the way down to  Scholarships and Money . Scholarships display in Naviance as they become available so keep checking back as new scholarships are added, open, and close throughout the year.

Use the winter break to explore colleges/majors and to plan for other post high school opportunities. Naviance is a great tool for this! Need help logging in? Contact your alpha counselor for assistance.
