Chinese-American World War II Veteran Congressional Gold Medal Act
On December 20, 2018, President Donald Trump signed the
Chinese-American World War II Veteran Congressional Gold Medal Act
into law, ordering the creation of the medal to recognize the Chinese Americans who volunteered or were drafted in WWII when the Chinese Exclusion Act was still in place. By then, about 20,000 Chinese veterans of the Second World War will be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal.
It has had a great impact on the passage of the bill in the House and ultimately it becoming law! Looking ahead, there will be an official ceremony unveiling the around Veterans Day in this year. This medal will be put on display at the Smithsonian, but copies will be available for veteran families and the public.
If there are any WWII veterans who haven't registered your information, please contact your Congressional representatives and fill in
this form
