Lifelong Faith Formation Connections

From the heart of our Pastoral Associate...Dr. Kathie Amidei
You Have To See This!
My friend and colleague, Ann Fons, stopped me as I walked into work this week. "You have to see this!" I didn't know if this was the start of a really good day or a really bad day. She rushed me to her desk and started playing this video, in which a little boy asks Pope Francis, "Is my dad in heaven?"
It tells the story of Pope Francis as he encounters a little boy in a public housing project. The pope was taking questions from the children. When it was a small child, Emanuele's turn to speak, he began to cry. He froze and said, "I can't do it..." After much coaxing he was brought to the pope who said to him, "Come and whisper it in my ear."
I want to believe that our God is like Pope Francis because sometimes I know I am like Emanuele and feel unable to share the greatest fears of my heart. And often my fears are about those I love more than anyone and for whom I feel responsible. I have discovered fear is a powerful emotion that can paralyze us and make us unable to connect with others and with God. Fear isolates. The next time I feel that fear or worry for a loved one I want to hold the image of our Pope Francis reminding me that God says to me, "Come and whisper in my ear."
I encourage you to take a few minutes out of your day to watch the interaction of Pope Francis with Emanuele. The gentleness of the pope with this young vulnerable child will remind you that the Holy Spirit is alive and is in our midst in our Church.
It may remind you prayer doesn't have to be grand. Sometimes it is our whisper into God's ear and sometimes it is listening to the "small still whisper" of God's voice in our heart.
This is just the beginning of this lovely story. You will find the video here. I hope you will watch it! "You have to see this!"

Women's Ministry Event

Ladies, you are all invited for dinner, a presentation & conversation on the topic of feminine relationships: a source of spiritual strength with Carol Sullivan.

Carol has been working since 1992 in the area of lay spirituality as a spiritual director, a retreat leader, and a dynamic Christian motivational speaker.  We are happy ot have her back at St. Anthony on the Lake to lead us in this conversation.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
In addition to our efforts throughout the year, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee has always recognized the important month of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. This year, we have also designated April 22-28, 2018 as Safe Environment Week. In doing so, we can assure that every parish and school, as well as the entire faith community focuses, at the same time, on the importance of keeping our children and youth safe.

Saint Francis de Sales Seminary Open House:
We invite you to St. Francis de Sales Seminary's Open House on Sunday, April 29. We will celebrate Mass at 11a.m. Seminarians will serve as hosts and tour guides as St. Francis de Sales opens the doors to the public from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Easter Season

A Prayer for Easter Eyes
My Lord, Jesus, You have risen to new life! Give me new eyes with which to recognize your presence in the world around me. Sharpen my vision so that I see beyond the ordinary events of each day and into the extraordinary reality of your grace. Brighten my view of the world with renewed hope in the coming of your Kingdom. Soften my gaze so that I view others with the kind of tenderness and compassion you showed to so many. May each day of this Easter season provide glimpses of your glory. In your sacred name, I pray. Amen.

ALLELUIA! Prayers for continued EASTER JOY!
