Here are the highlights of our events this coming week:
1) This coming Wednesday evening at 7:00p we begin our next Level-1 WCS class series.
Here is what's happening beyond Next Week;
1) Our next Thursday evening social dance class series will feature
Country Two-Step and begin on March 15th at 7:00p.
2) Syncopation Sundays!!! Our next Syncopation Sunday Brunch will be held on March 18th. We will begin with a syncopations lesson from 1:00p until 2:00p. Dancing will start at the end of the lesson and last until 5:00. Syncopations are a wonderful way to express yourself and the music while not depending on your partner. (BTW leaders do syncopations too!). We will take a specific rhythm and show you syncopations on different levels that you can dance to that rhythm. Each lesson will include syncopations from easy to advanced. We will also be discussion musical structure, accenting and phrasing so you can have a better idea on when to syncopate. Admission will be $15 for the lesson and social. Leaders who wish to take the lesson will pay only $10 for the afternoon.
3) LIBERTY SWING!! The studio will again be going to the Liberty Swing dance event. We will have the same 2 front row tables that we have had for many years. I will have a signup sheet in the studio starting tomorrow morning. Please let me know if you would like to join us and have a seat at the tables. I will have more information out shortly. The cost is
$160 per person, all inclusive for the entire weekend. Checks are made out to Rhythm in Shoes. I hope you can join us for this wonderful dance event.
MONTHLY SOCIALS:
Our Socials are held on Sunday afternoons or Saturday evenings. The socials begin with a lesson at followed by dancing. We offer light refreshments and play a California mix of music. Admission is $15 for the socials. Please see our website calendar for more details.
Class definitions:
Level-1 West Coast Swing. This is the class that develops and strengthens all your dance and connections skills so you can build a strong foundation for your West Coast Swing dancing. This foundation is necessary to achieve your social or competitive dancing goals. This class is definitely the most important ongoing class you should be taking no matter what your dance level is.
Level-2 West Coast Swing. This class will further develop lead/follow skills and footwork skills to make syncopations and patters more successful when you dance. We will explain HOW to lead and follow, HOW to connect better with your partner and HOW to dance different rhythms with your feet. Arm and body styling will be developed in this class as well.
Level-3 West Coast Swing. This class uses the skills learned in the Level-1 and Level-2 classes to develop more complicated patterns and more complicated syncopations. Musicality will be developed to allow dancers to "open up" their dancing to be more expressive.
Thursday night Social dance classes. This class will develop the social dances which we dance here at RIS. Nightclub Two-Step, Country Two-Step, Argentine Tango, Foxtrot, Latin Hustle, Salsa and more.
