Schedule for Finals Week
The end of the semester is fast approaching and so are final exams.

Reminder for students: Use FLEX Period wisely and sign up to see any teacher whose class you are struggling in.

Also, f ree peer tutoring is available after school from 3-4 pm in the back of the library on Monday, 12/17and Tuesday, 12/18.

Foothill will be on a regular bell schedule on Monday and Tuesday.

Below is the schedule for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday:

Yearbook News
GOOD NEWS! It's not too late to order a yearbook! To ensure your child receives a YEARBOOK WITH FREE NAMEPLATE in May, you must order a book online at  www.yearbookordercenter.com  (school code: 7378) by January 10, 2019. If you aren't sure whether you have ordered a book, search your email for a receipt from Herff Jones (and be sure it's for the 2019 book), or you can contact the yearbook adviser, Ms. Richey, at  [email protected]

Reminder! If you would like your child's senior portrait to be included in the yearbook , you must have their portrait taken by Studio One  before the end of winter break . To schedule an appointment, contact them at  studio1experience.com  ASAP.  
Seeking PTSA Nominating Committee Members
The Foothill PTSA is seeking three PTSA members for the nominating committee to recruit eligible candidates for the elected leadership of Foothill PTSA. The members of the committee have an influence on the future of the PTSA. Nominating committee members do not need experience but should include both experienced leadership as well as newer members. If you are interested in serving on the Nominating Committee, please email  Debi White (current PTSA president) , or  Jun Xue (PTSA Parliamentarian) . This is a short term commitment and does not mean you need to serve on the PTSA. The nominating committee will be officially elected at our January 23rd Association Meeting

Special Needs Resource and Transition Fair
The Tri-Valley SELPA is hosting a Special Needs Resource and Transition Fair on February 2 at Dublin High School. This event is FREE to all attendees. The conference includes 9 speakers, addressing age groups from infancy through the transition to adulthood. The vendor fair will include a variety of county and private service providers. 2019 AP Exam Registration
Registration for AP exams will be available online January 14-31, 2019. Additional details to follow soon.  
PSAT/NMSQT Scores Online
Student scores from the PSAT/NMSQT will be available online to students December 10–12. Students ages 13 and older who provided their email address on their PSAT/NMSQT answer sheet will receive an email reminder from College Board explaining where and how to  view their scores. Students can set up a free College Board account at any time.

Super Match  campaign runs until February 3 (Super Bowl Sunday). For those who have donated to PPIE, thank you! For those who want an end of year or new year opportunity, your donations will be MATCHED with generous funds from the broader community. And now, we can accept securities/stocks allocations as well. VOTE for How Your PPIE Donations are Used
Please VOTE for what PPIE should fund at your school! With your great support at August School Registration and PPIE's successful Fall Gala, it’s time to choose how those funds should be used. VOTING IS OPEN UNTIL DECEMBER 31 at  www.ppie.org  . Each year, PPIE works with your PTA/PFC, school and PUSD leadership to identify key Supplemental Staff (librarians, student intervention specialists, support counselors, onsite IT specialists, etc.) for funding - so tell us what you want. 
Interested in a Career as a Firefighter?
This spring, Las Positas College is offering their Fire Protection Organization class to high school students through concurrent enrollment.
 
The class is will be offered on Wednesdays from 5pm-7:50 pm during Las Positas College's spring semester (1/14/19 - 5/24/19) at Livermore Adult Education on Almond Avenue. 
 
Fire Protection Organization is a required course in the Fire Service Technology A.S. degree at Las Positas College. Concurrent enrollment is free to high school students (no per unit fee) and is a way to get a head start on your college and career while in high school.

CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT STEPS
 
If interested, you will need to complete the steps for concurrent enrollment. Visit the Las Positas Concurrent Enrollment page to figure out what you need to do and to download appropriate forms:  http://www.laspositascollege.edu/admissions/concurrent.php#steps

Note that the deadline for concurrent enrollment is listed as November 4. This was the priority deadline,   but you may still apply late. The sooner the better because you will be given a course registration date based on when your paperwork is received/ processed.
HS Students Can Earn College Credit
Check out these college classes that are open to high school students at local high school campuses. Courses are offered in Las Positas College's Spring 2019. Click here for courses offered. You can still register after the priority deadline provided there are spots open in the class.
Cash for College Workshop
Senior Families! Need help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act (CADAA) and Chafee Grant for Foster Youth applications? Sari Haskell from AVHS and Molly Allen from FHS have been trained by Cash for College and have volunteered to organize a free workshop on Thursday, February 21 in the AVHS Library from 6-8pm - just before the March 2nd state deadline.
Counseling Updates for Seniors
SENIORS, please remember that if you are applying to a private or out-of-state college, you must return your manila envelope to your counselor at least two weeks before your first application deadline, not including holidays. Please make sure to get your manila envelope to your counselor on time!

  • If you have a January 15th deadline, manila envelopes are due to your counselor by Tuesday, December 18th.
           
**A few reminders**
On the front of the manila envelope, only list private or out-of-state colleges you are applying to (do not list UC’s or CSU’s).
 
Remember to include:

  • Your name and an email that you check regularly
  • Due dates for each application
  • Check the box provided if the school is not on the Common App
 
In the manila envelope include:

  • The completed student information sheet, also known as the yellow brag sheet!
 
For private or out of state colleges  not   on the Common App,  also include in the manila envelope:

  • The completed secondary school report in your best handwriting, blue or black ink (Colleges will see this, so please be neat!)
  • Envelopes addressed to the college in your best handwriting, blue or black ink, with two stamps and leave the return address blank
  • Order official transcripts by completing the Senior Transcript Request Form
 
We realize that this is a very busy time of year, and completing college applications can be overwhelming.

As always, all students may complete an appointment slip request form to meet with their counselor individually.
 Seniors Community Service Requirement
Seniors- please check Google Classroom, Class of 2019 for graduation requirement information for community service. Due by March 1. Click here for more info.
