Dear Belmont-Redwood Shores Community,

Last night, there was a fatal shooting in the parking lot of Central Elementary School. There is no connection between the crime and the school. By 6:30am this morning, police activity at the site had concluded, police walked through the entire campus, and they assured us that the school campus was safe going forward. There is no evidence of the crime on site. From what the police know of the incident, there is no threat to safety at Central Elementary School or any other school in the District. Based upon the assessment of the Belmont Police Department, school continued at Central as scheduled today. The Belmont Police Department's posting regarding the incident can be found here.
