VHF provides financial assistance to those who need it and we are currently accepting applications to help pay for basic living expenses and expenses incurred in the care, treatment, or prevention of an inherited bleeding disorder. VA Copes Warmline Virginia C.O.P.E.S. (Compassionate, Optimistic, Person-centered, Empowering, Support) Warmline is available to all VA residents who may be struggling with isolation, fear, grief and anxiety around COVID 19. Crisis Counselors are available to provide peer support, to help you identify coping strategies, local area resources and support groups. Go here to learn more.

VHF Red Tie Online Auction: Thank You!
VHF would like to give a BIG thank you to all those who participated in our first Red Tie Online Auction! The bidding was competitive and all for a great cause: supporting our individuals and families living with inherited bleeding disorders. Together we raised $2,747 from the online auction...wow! 
Unite For Bleeding Disorders 2020: Where Will You Walk?
Registration is open for our first-ever virtual Unite Walk on October 10th and we want to know: where are you walking? Email megan@vahemophilia.org a photo and your story for why and where you plan to do your Unite Walk this year by August 15th and you could be featured in the VHF e-newsletter!

Volunteer Spotlight: Tory Gilliam
Virginia Hemophilia Foundation is proud to recognize Tory Gilliam, VHF Board Secretary, as our third nominee for 2020 Volunteer of the Year. Tory works as Senior Event Producer at MOSAIC Catering for his professional job, and is serving in his second year on the VHF Board. He is also involved in the Scholarship, Governance and Red Tie Fundraiser committees for VHF.

We are moving our Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk to Zoom on Saturday, October 10th to join the National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) and other chapters nationwide on their national Unite Day!

This presentation is intended to walk you through the journey that started over 50 years ago with the beginnings of gene therapy research. We will walk through the basics of genetics and how that plays a role in hemophilia. With that knowledge, we will look at how gene therapy is meant to work and discuss both the potential for and the challenges of investigational gene therapy research in hemophilia today.
