Lineage Logistics Adding Major Expansion to Commerce City Operation

As the population of metro Denver increases, so does the need for distribution and warehouse space. One of the companies working to meet that need is Lineage Logistics, a cold storage warehousing and logistics company. Lineage Logistics is adding nearly 116,000 square feet to its existing 430,000-plus square-foot operation already in the Irondale neighborhood. This project brings an estimated $12.5 million in new capital investment to the city and adds 25 jobs to the company's current workforce of 90 employees. 
Support Small Business Week: April 29-May5

April 29-May 5 is National Small Business Week, which recognizes and celebrates the critical contributions of entrepreneurs and small business owners to the community. City Council declared its support for the event and all the small businesses in Commerce City with a proclamation on April 16. Small business owners from The Glove Wagon and Innovative Mechanical Solutions accepted the proclamation on behalf of small businesses in the city.

 
Portion of Commerce City gets Federal Opportunity Zone Status

Colorado is among the first states to have its 126 recommended Opportunity Zones certified by the U.S. Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service. This includes a part of southwestern Commerce City (census tract 89.01) located west of Vasquez Boulevard to the city border.

Established by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, Opportunity Zones are a new economic development strategy to encourage long-term investments in low-income areas by providing federal tax incentives. For Commerce City, this announcement offers revitalization opportunities for the core city, and in particular the Derby Neighborhood. The Opportunity Zone designation will result in stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors to provide more collaboration along with investment in the city. First Transit Honored for Workforce Development Program

Commerce City's own First Transit received the Talent Development Award at the April 5 Adams County Excellence Awards & Luncheon hosted by Adams County Economic Development (ACED). Awards are presented to Adams County businesses that have made significant achievements in economic development across the region. 

First Transit was recognized for its forward-thinking corporate culture of developing people, leveraging their expertise and sharing best practices. The company offers training opportunities that contribute to the growth and success of its employees and management staff. Through an online training program known as First Transit University, employees can complete courses on their own time, track their progress and print their certificates of completion.
Commerce City Company Named "Colorado Companies to Watch" Finalist

Hermes Worldwide, Inc., is a woman- and minority-owned business in the city that provides chauffeured, executive car and limo services. The company is a finalist for the 2018 Colorado Companies to Watch awards program. Established in 2009 by the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade (OEDIT), the Edward Lowe Foundation and other community partners, the Colorado Companies to Watch program annually recognizes 50 second-stage companies or companies that have moved past the startup stage and into a period of growth. Winners are chosen based on financial performance, unique processes and innovative products, and philanthropic actions. The 2018 winners will be announced in June. New Restaurant Space Seeking Tenant


Construction is nearing completion on a new restaurant space available in Turnberry Marketplace at Highway 2 and E. 104th Avenue. The 1,800-square-foot space is adjacent to Anchor CrossFit and the new Pour Tap House. Construction is expected to be complete in late May or early June. Royal Nepal Restaurant Closed


The owner of Royal Nepal Restaurant has closed the restaurant indefinitely while he decides its future. Another potential restaurant owner has made inquiries into the space, which is located in the North Range Town Center at 15550 E. 103rd Pl.


Support Local Restaurants at the Taste of Adams County


The Taste of Adams County is coming up Thursday, May 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Waymire Dome at the Adams County Regional Park, 9755 Henderson Rd. The event features food and beverage samplings from local restaurants, caterers and hospitality vendors. It is open to the public and includes lots of great food, fun and entertainment! Register for this event (cost is $20 for an individual ticket and $35 for a VIP ticket).
