We spent our year tightening up our process, bolstering our field team, crisscrossing the country in grand style from New York to Pennsylvania, Colorado, South Dakota, Montana, the Pacific Northwest and back.

But, really, who cares?

2018?

It's only been a week and those four numbers already seem washed up and irrelevant.

The future is where it's AT.

And 2019 still has that new car smell...

OCEANFRONT WORK SITES,
16 HOURS OF SUNLIGHT A DAY,
AND THE WORLD'S LARGEST BEARS

What more could we ask for?

This May we travel to Kodiak Island off the southern coast of Alaska as the first team to begin construction at Cliff Point Estates -- an outdoor lover's paradise-development which sits on a striking peninsula inside the Gulf of Alaska.

The point is loaded with epic views and all kinds of terrain parceled into a collection of unique, ocean-front lots. Some have low-slope walkdowns to the beach, others feature cliffs high above the surf.

Gushing over Kodiak Island is old news. The LA Times called it " Montana at the beach ". Most of the island is contained within the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, 2800 square miles of salmon-packed streams, alpine meadows, spruce forests, and Volkswagen-sized bears .

We’ll be building two homes and the main entry gate on the approach road. These homes are modified slightly from our standard designs so consider this a first look at two new models —

Building in pristine locations is a responsibility that we don't take lightly. Check out our commitment to green building practices and what we mean by sustainable homes and you'll see why we feel like we're the best team for the job.

Kodiak offers us a rare return to our company’s roots in the great white north where Timberbuilt was first conceived by our founder, George, in an Anchorage library over 25 years ago.

George spent years working summers in Alaska as a carpenter and builder and one of our top foreman, Patrick, travels up every summer to run a small fishing boat.

If we don't sound excited enough, we're also looking forward to the chance to show off our logistical readiness and the adaptability of our field crew . We’ve got some experience at this stuff — last summer our team spent a month in off-the-grid cabins in the remote mountains on the west side of Glacier National Park.

Speaking of which...

Our overachieving clients in Polebridge, Montana updated us with a few photographs of their recently completed home.

These folks are DIY monsters -- finding time between marathon work shifts (they're both doctors) to complete the interior framing, electrical, plumbing, and timber frame staircase. They also gathered, stacked, and mortared all the stones for the fireplace and exterior pillars. And they reclaimed wood from a 40-year-old family cabin which they milled to build all the cabinets in the home.
This house sits high above the western banks of the Flathead River, which acts as the boundary on the western edge of Glacier National Park. It's one of the most remote homes we've ever built, an hour's drive to a supermarket, and just ten miles shy of the Canadian border.

Easy to see why Montana's North Fork region is a hard place to forget.

We’re targeting athletic Western New York college students looking for adventurous summer work and travel to epic locations. Check out our recruiting video of our guys in action:

ELLICOTTVILLE
BREWING COMPANY

THE SEQUEL

Ellicottville Brewing Company has become a Western New York institution.

In addition to their excellent products, they boast an 8,000 sq. ft. restaurant, brew house, and German beer garden, timber framed (by Timberbuilt) in 2013.

This year, EBC is expanding with a new location in Little Valley, NY . Look at the aesthetics of the angled timber posts outside of this place.

Cool business plan to go with the unique design — in addition to opening the EBC Public Pub & Tasting Room with an outdoor, summer beer garden, there’s plans to open a Craft Brewing Science Center to demonstrate the components of brewing.

We’re not mathematicians but in our book:

Science + Beer = Fun

Our part of the project is slated to begin this winter.
IS THE WEATHER WARM
NEAR YOU?

Although we work year round, our building season only extends to certain places at certain times.

Building in Phoenix in July or Minneapolis in February is inefficient, costly, and a morale killer to our crew. It’s been well documented that we can work in all sorts of weather (we are from Buffalo, after all) but we’re at our most efficient (and affordable) when the weather is nice.

Therefore, we place a high value on locations that experience mild winters — and price them accordingly. They keep us busy when our hometown is blanketed with snow.

For these special clients, we limit our schedule to builds from December to March only.
