Marina Buzz
December 2018
"And now let us believe in a long year that is given to us, new, untouched, and full of things that have never been."

- Rainer Maria Rilke

The Marina yard is a bit quiet this time of year. All the boats are wrapped and stored while snow covers the docks and ice continues to grow. It's been quite a different start to the winter compared to last year. Most resorts have already received 100'' of snow! Snow sports are in full swing and soon the reservoir will see a buzz of activity with ice fishermen, ice sailors and snow kiting beginning as soon as the water freezes completely.  As the holidays approach and the year comes to an end we want to thank you all for an amazing 2018! Cheers to the New Year and we look forward to seeing you all in 2019!

One Last Time

On a sunny afternoon in late November, I was sitting at my desk feeling the mid-day slump approach when I received an unexpected invitation. "Come sail?" Now I don't know about you, but the prospect of sailing in almost December was too enticing to pass up. I put on every article of clothing I had in the office and headed down to the marina.

We trudged through knee deep snow to the dock where Natural was moored amidst the encroaching ice. We cast off the frozen lines and headed out into the open water, the cool breeze on our faces.

Sails up, engine off, fenders in, tiller and main sheet in hand we let the wind direct our course as we relished in our final voyage of 2018.

Craig Update
(no "From the Crows Nest" this month)

For those of you who don't know Craig had surgery on December 6th to replace his left knee. After years of skiing it was finally time to fix a lingering problem.

He doesn't like to brag but the doctors said his knee was one of the worst they have ever seen! In fact they kept it for a case study.

Craig has already started physical therapy and the doctors said his new knee is healing well. He sends everyone warm regards for the holidays and is looking forward to being able to sail next summer. While he's out of the office you can still contact him here:

News from the Back Office!

What on earth could be happening at the marina this time of year? Well, besides dealing with a broken furnace and trying to master the art of typing with gloves on, I've been busy wrapping up marina accounts for 2018.

Get it? I'm "wrapping" them up! It's the holidays...we wrap things. Hmm...maybe this is why they keep me in the back office!

So anyway, if you have an outstanding balance on your account, we graciously ask that you take care of it before the clock strikes 12 of New Year's Eve.

Also, you may remember me mentioning this once or twice (or ten times) before, but this time of year is also all about marina renewals. A lot of work goes into preparing for this mass e-mailing so you'll receive them right after the start of the New Year.

This said, I'm asking one thing from you all. Call it my holiday wish. Please sign up for a customer account through the Marina Portal so I can avoid re-creating and re-sending renewals to each and every person who can't find it buried in their inbox. Once you have your account set up, you can access everything I've sent you at anytime. And it's worth mentioning one last time as I still get a lot of emails about this...once you create your account, you'll need to wait for me to tie it to your marina account before you can login and see your documents and invoices. OK, I'll now dismount my soapbox!

Marina Winter Hours
