THE LITTLE WHITE HOUSE, Center for Autistic Children, and our Ministry Partner is in need of the following donations.
- The painting of four ceilings. They are approximately 10 x 14 each. Painting would have to be done on the weekend or evenings after closing.
- Someone to go into the crawl space and get "junk" out from under there. Crawl space is very tight.
- This task would require a person of smaller stature. This can be done during regular daytime hours.
- A vapor barrier in the crawl space. The Center is approximately 1100 square feet. The accessible crawl space is slightly smaller.

This past November, the seventh Parliament of World Religions since 1893 was held in Toronto, Canada and attended by a remarkably diverse group of over 10,000 people from around the world. Come to this colorful program on Saturday, January 12th to hear a first-hand account of this exciting event. Bring a dish to the potluck dinner at 6:30 pm and stay for the program or come just for the program at 7:30 pm. All are welcome!

Children's Ministries 2019

The time has come to start planning the 2019 Vacation Bible School program.
Our first meeting will be Thursday January 24th at 6:00 pm.
We will have light refreshments.
Put on your thinking caps and join Kimberly to help launch her first VBS at Holy Cross.

Cursillo Weekend February 2019

Cursillo Weekend February 21-24, 2019
Have you ever wondered, "What is my purpose in life? Why am I here?
Does God have a plan for me? Are faith and belief the same thing?"
If you have or have had these types of questions or similar ones, you might consider attending a Cursillo weekend. The weekend runs from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon. The next weekend is February 21-24, 2019, at Bishop Gravatt Conference Center.
Cursillo is a ministry in the Episcopal Church, with the support of our bishop. The weekend has fifteen talks, over three days, given by lay persons and clergy, then discussed in small groups.It provides an opportunity to deepen your faith and to experience the love of God within a supportive and prayerful community.

January's Ministry Partner is the Greenville Literacy Association.
Below are some highlights from this ministry;
Greenville Literacy Association
For 50 years, Greenville Literacy Association (GLA) has provided opportunities for adults of all income and literacy levels to achieve self-sufficiency through education. Over the years, our programs have touched the lives of tens of thousands of Greenville area adults and helped to make the most extreme forms of illiteracy rare. We are proud of this legacy and grateful to all the many GLA supporters and volunteers who played a part in it.
Today, GLA and the Greenville community face a new set of challenges. As most residents know, the economy of our area has changed dramatically in recent years, and many low-skilled adults have been left behind. According to 2013 Census estimates for Greenville County:
16,000 adults have less than a 9th grade education.
42,000 adults lack a high school diploma.
14,000 adults are not fluent in English.

What Your Contribution Can Provide
*Operational funding for GLA's learning centers
*$80 will cover a scholarship for one student's fees for a year
*$150 will pay for one student to take the GED test
*$750 will fund the entire cost of educating one student for one year
*$930 will buy 15 subscriptions to "News for You" - a current events newspaper created specifically for low literacy adults
*$4999 will buy GED software seats for independent study to augment the classroom experience. These seats can be used by 25 students at a time, but in total, many more than 25 can make use of this new learning tool.
Greenville Literacy Association's
mission is to enrich our community by increasing the literacy and
employability of our citizens.
The Greenville Literacy Association is a not for profit, charitable organization formed under Section 501(c)3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
Donations to the Greenville Literacy Association are tax-deductible as charitable contributions for US federal income tax purposes.
GLA promotes an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. We strive to be a community where people of different cultures, intellectual positions, and lifestyles can come to learn and give back to the community. GLA provides educational opportunities and support services on an individual basis including participants with disabilities such as learning, physical, emotional and mental. Through local partnerships, we do our best to provide wrap-around services to encourage stabilization, including referrals to partner agencies, based on students' needs and goals.
