OUR JANUARY EDITION:
Welcome to 2018!

Welcome to a new year, and a new chance to shine! With a resolution in mind, jump into 2018 with motivation to be the best you that you can be.  We at La Foret are continuing to raise the bar for ourselves, too.

We've already started several projects in the new year. We've replaced the floors in our lovely Kinnikinnick cabin (picture on right).

The main room's carpeted floor has been replaced with durable, clean wood flooring. The new floors are elegant, and match the siding of the main room.

We're also excited to be trying out drone technology to view our camp. We're looking forward to releasing a video tour of camp...coming soon in 2018! We have really enjoyed getting a bird's eye view of things, like the meadow picture, below. See the walking path, and the dining hall on the left side of the meadow - how cool!

La Foret gives campers a place to find wonder. La Foret is a perfect setting for church groups to ignite passion within. Weddings, concerts, celebrations... Priceless memories are made in this special woodland setting, and we will always continue to go the extra mile to make La Foret an extraordinary place for visitors.
Employee Highlight:
Brad Carroll
Assistant Exec / Director of  Operations

La Foret is pleased to welcome in a new face to fill a large role around camp. We welcome in Brad, all the way from Wisconsin! Brad is jumping in and learning the ropes around camp, as our Assistant Executive Director.

Brad joined the La Foret staff in November of 2017. Brad has a long career that includes restaurant work, health/dietary care food service, contract food service, hotel management, sales and scheduling, and for many years operations management in outdoor ministry. Through all his career, what he has enjoyed the most is planning and preparing for guests and welcoming them to conferences and retreats. He strives to serve those he works with and all guests with the heart of a servant leader. In addition to career work, Brad has enjoyed serving at local churches in layperson roles, serving as scoutmaster of a local troop, and as an EMT with a local first responder crew.

Brad and his wife Marykay, have two grown sons, Thomas and Josh. In their free time, Brad and Marykay enjoy traveling, camping, canoeing, hikes and leisurely walks.

From the Director

We are excited about beginning a new year.  Our preparation for the busy spring begins now with a review of menus, completion of the annual deep cleaning, and finishing an array of projects, large and small.  It is not too soon to be thinking about booking your group's retreat for this year as the calendar is already filling in.  If you want to send your children or grandchildren to a full week camp this summer that will welcome them inclusively for just who they are, you may consider United Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ and Unitarian Universalist children's camps this summer.  Each of these denominations registers kids on their own web sites, so seek out information that way.  When the registration is open, we will supply url's in this newsletter.

No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome at La Foret.

My Wonderful
Woodland Wedding

"I was married at La Foret last year, and I will always hold the experience near and dear to my heart. I imagine there are many people who cherish La Foret and the life-changing moments created in such a wonderful setting.

Almost every step of the process felt like a dream come true. My photographer was inspired by the incredible woodland setting, and we have an entire album of amazing pictures that capture the forested beauty and happiness of that day. La Foret provided me and my group with privacy...I felt like my wedding was the only thing in the world that day, like time stood still. The forest is a quiet, picture-perfect background, and of course these pictures hang sentimentally as a centerpiece in my home.

I feel attached...like La Foret is my special place. Then I realize just how many lives have been moved and improved by this magical place... and I love it even more!"
