But the Greatest of these is Harmony!

Since publishing my first book in 2011, my tagline has been "Health, Hope and Harmony." And it all began in 2002 with a curiosity about food.

Over the next 16 years, my tagline (abbreviated as H3) has served me well. It really tells the whole story about our human endeavor in those three simple words:
  • Health. The fact that we have the power to promote our own health, simply by choosing the right fuel for our species: whole, plant-based food.
  • Hope. By choosing food for our own health, we are also laying the groundwork of hope for the health of our ecosystem that sustains all life on Earth.
  • Harmony. The beautiful equilibrium that results from all creatures following nature's guidelines in everything that they do.
It was during the writing of  Healthy Eating, Healthy World in 2010 that the alliterative phrase, "health, hope and harmony," came to me in the middle of the night. I later decided to include the abbreviated version H3 (H Cubed) every time I sign a copy of one of my books. And I always tell the book purchaser what the "H3" means.

In my next presentation on May 2, I will be talking a great deal about health, hope and harmony. Here are a few slides that  I will be using:

The first slide focuses on an exploding population coupled with a global economy based on maximizing the consumption of STUFF in a world of finite resources. MSM (Middle School Math) can help anyone understand the absurd fallacy in that kind of thinking.

We must work aggressively on all three of the above, but #4 is the one that can be fixed most quickly and will do more than all the others to promote H3. Hence...

Featured next is a great example of a true "big picture" scientist, one who succinctly describes how we can (and must) make Mother Nature happy with our presence on Earth. See the sentence in white letters at the end.

This is the final slide that I will use to provide some homework for the students at Holy Cross next week.
As Dr. Wilson states, we humans have the wherewithal to once again learn how to live in harmony with the rest of nature on planet Earth. But the question is:

Can we put aside our wasteful and harmful lifestyles, our biases and prejudices, along with our religious and cultural differences, soon enough to get it done?

The Bottom Line. My vision is that we can and we must. I believe that if you can envision a solution to a complex problem, then it is possible for that problem to be solved.

Looking for Opportunities to Speak in 2018.  Since 2016, my research, writing and speaking has been focused on the sustainability of our ecosystem, our civilization and our future as a species. With an emphasis on food choices, I call it the "most important topic in the history of humanity."

After all, what could possibly be more important to humans than the survival of our species?

Latest/future talks: During the past few weeks, I spoke at the  vsh.org in Honolulu and in Kahului, Maui. On May 2, I will be speaking at the College of the Holy Cross  in Worcester, MA, and in South Haven, Michigan on November 3. In October, there is a possibility that I will be speaking at a Chinese Nutrition Association event in Nanjing, China.
