Every decision has a consequence - sometimes good and sometimes bad.
How often do we talk with our children or our students about consequences?
In late December, a Crayons staff member discovered a situation that
will have
a consequence. A teacher had shopped at Crayons and had taken one of the flat-screen TVs we had in the store last fall. That teacher had then posted the TV
for sale
on a social media site.
Each year
teachers agree with the following:
"I pledge that I will adhere to C2C's Shopping Policies and any items that I am taking will be used strictly for the benefit of my students in need and not be used personally. I also understand that any attempt to sell, barter, trade, or otherwise profit from these items by any means is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply with the above stipulations will result in automatic and permanent revocation of my privileges to shop at...Crayons to Computers."
The teacher attempting to sell the TV will lose shopping privileges at Crayons.
We believe that this situation reflects the exception and certainly not the rule.
However, it
provides
a good opportunity to remind everyone that
Crayons is
a tax-exempt
entity
charged with providing a
public (not private) benefit
- which is to
level the playing field in the classroom by ensuring that students in need have the tools
to succeed in school.
Thank you
for all that YOU do every day to teach the next generation
,
Amy Cheney,
President & CEO
P.S. We've heard from many teachers about the benefits these TVs have provided to students. Teachers at the Learning Center at North Norwood engaged students in a beneficial relaxation exercise using the TV. We'd love to hear more stories like this so we can share them with the generous donor! Please share your comments or photos with Kristen Scott at [email protected].

Crayons to Computers is seeking submissions of student artwork for a silent auction at our annual Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader fundraising event, taking place in early April.
The silent auction will feature up to 40 donated works of art from local students, and all money raised will go to support Crayons to Computers.
We are willing to consider all art media, but 2D artwork that can be hung on a wall is preferred.
If you have a talented student willing to donate something they've created, please submit a photo of the art to Stefanie Clayton at [email protected] no later than February 23, 2019.

Please welcome Kristen Scott, School Relations Coordinator, and the newest member of the Crayons family. Kristen is native to Cincinnati and a graduate of Kent State University. She is looking forward to meeting all of our teacher shoppers.
Kristen is easily reachable via her
email or by phone at 513-482-3290.

In case of inclement weather, Crayons to Computers will make a decision by noon if the Teacher Free Store will close. The decision is independent of any school district.
If closed, Crayons to Computers will be listed in the general school and business closings on local news channels WLWT, WCPO and WKRC. Closings will also be pos
ted via social media and on the Crayons to Computers
