January is National Mentoring Month

In celebration of National Mentoring Month, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for being a mentor and changing a life through our Take Stock in Children program. You are making a huge difference and we appreciate you!

It takes a mentor to dedicate time to meet with a student who has the odds stacked against them and encourage them to succeed. Mentoring is a critical component in young people's lives, helping them make the decisions and connections that lead to opportunity. Your contribution to your mentee's success is immeasurable - thank you for changing a life!

It Takes a Mentor
Current TSIC mentor, Teddy Marcelo, talks about the impact mentoring has had on him and his mentees, Eduardo & Ernest, at Alonso High School.

Trinity Café Community Service Event

Mentors and mentees were able to support Trinity Café on Friday, January 4, 2019. It was a wonderful way to bring in the New Year by giving back to those in need in our community. Thank you to everyone who was able to participate!

Scholarship Opportunity for JUNIORS

College Board's $25 Million National Scholarship Program Now Open for High School Juniors

Earlier this year, the College Board announced that it is investing $5 million per year for the creation of College Board Opportunity Scholarships, beginning with the class of 2020.  Nationwide, students will have the opportunity to enter to win scholarships after completing six action steps that must be taken during certain time periods during their junior and senior years.  Completing each step will earn students a chance to win a scholarship of $500 to $2,000.  This scholarship program is unlike many others because it does not have a minimum GPA or SAT score requirement, nor is an essay or lengthy application required. Rather, the Opportunity Scholarships reward students' actions on their way to college, making it open to all.
